    Peacefully in his sleep?

    Theodore Dalrymple:

“Yes,” he said, “it’s just my luck to be here on this charge.”

Luck? He had already served a dozen prison sentences, many of them for violence, and on the night in question had carried a knife with him, which he must have known from experience that he was inclined to use. But it was the victim of the stabbing who was the real author of the killer’s action: if he hadn’t been there, he wouldn’t have been stabbed.

My murderer was by no means alone in explaining his deed as due to circumstances beyond his control. As it happens, there are three stabbers (two of them unto death) at present in the prison who used precisely the same expression when describing to me what happened. “The knife went in,” they said when pressed to recover their allegedly lost memories of the deed.

The knife went in—unguided by human hand, apparently. That the long-hated victims were sought out, and the knives carried to the scene of the crimes, was as nothing compared with the willpower possessed by the inanimate knives themselves, which determined the unfortunate outcome.

I am angry…..a loving husband, a true Christian man, a father of five children, an animal lover, beloved by his constituents, a stalwart friend to Israel and Jews….murdered by a scum adherent of an hateful, sinister and barbarous ideology. Why have we imported such scum?

  4. Lee says:

    Sir David has passed away.

    “Passed away”?
    What a sick, sick joke.
He was murdered by one of your co-religionists, Sadiq Khan.

  5. C.L. says:

    Well said, Cassie.

    I feel the same.

  6. rosie says:

    Khan is a disgrace.

  7. Mak Siccar says:

Indeed, well said Cassie, and Khan is loathsome scum.

  8. Tel says:

Remember when British MP Jo Cox was murdered … many other people were declared guilty by association.

I wonder if the same rules will apply for this murder?

  9. Lee says:

I can just see the MSM headlines if it had been Biden:
    “President Biden Passes Away.”
    And pigs might fly.

  10. Perfidious Albino says:

    Dan Andrews “…so, so…”
    Sadiq Khan “…deeply, deeply”

It’s just how these sociopaths have trained themselves to mimic compassion.

  11. Cassie of Sydney says:

A good man, a mensch. This is from GB News…and a priest who knew him personally…..

“Sir David Amess: ‘His faith informed everything he did.’

  12. C.L. says:

Indeed, Ivan – the knife certainly went in.

  13. Davey Boy says:

Murderously intolerant ideology gotta murder intolerantly

some nutter recently vandalised a local mosque, the local MPs and councillors were all falling over themselves to express their horror and outrage, and their solidarity with the locals

Yet when asked to condemn an actual murder like this, or even local violence such as the the VicPol shitshow thuggery – stony and cowardly silence.

  14. cuckoo says:

Nein’s report on this last night contained not one word about the stabber. But they did include an interview with the sister of Jo Cox, the Labour MP murdered six years ago. On the flip side, it’s been 24 hours and I haven’t heard anything about the fears of the Somali Muslim community as they await the inevitable backlash.

  15. Shy Ted says:

Enoch Powell was unavailable for comment. The only thing he got wrong was the timeframe.

  16. Cassie of Sydney says:

Here’s Sir David’s parish priest talking about him…

  17. rosie says:

    Some good news Cuckoo.

All that is missing now is a heart-warming story about a hijabi helping an almost victim, or laying flowers at the site of the murder.

  18. C.L. says:

Police on scene denied priest entry to give last rites.
    Because of course they did.

Slightly OT. For some considerable time I have been seeking to appoint someone to fill the boots of a bloke going around under the non-de-plume of Mr Wellington Boot who back in the day posted incisive left-centre commentary on Henry Thornton’s blog. Well, I think he was left of centre, it’d be more accurate to say he had a mind of his own. I gather he’d got himself out of bother more than once and might have been a spy at some stage. His bio included the line he never saw John Howard in Vietnam. His foreign policy was to build a dozen nuclear subs so that anyone attacking the Wide Brown was in for a bloody nose. His government policy was to remind pollies (in this case, Swanny) that the role of government was to hang on to the first trillion and provide conditions to grow the second. His attitude to muzzies was what he called typical Aussie fare; support for the underdog… and then, damn it, right before the Arab Spring he went and carked it on me and I’ve been searching for a poor man’s Boot ever since. And maaaaate, let me tell you, that Jack the Insider turned out to be the most ill fit waste of cowhide I ever had the misfortune try on in the shoe shop.

Anyway. I don’t think it’s too much of an exaggeration to say things have gone a bit topsy turvy since the Boot’s demise. What with the CEO of Qantas coming out as a latter day Mary Whitehouse impersonator turned ‘rona czarina; and the parlous state of the nerves of those set upon knifemen of London; and Twiggy coming out as a Peter Garrett impersonator – I could do with the Boot’s take right now. So I’m trying you on for size. There was another nomenclaturist over at the Cat who showed promise; a John Komnenos II or something. But he was never prolific enough or I never stumbled on where he hangs out. So for now it’s solely on you.

That would never have happened 50 years ago. Culture is downstream of religion.
