A Victoria Police officer has been assaulted at an anti-vaccine “freedom” protest in Melbourne on Sunday.
The rally — which involved an estimated 4000 marching against vaccine mandates and public health orders — resulted in one arrest, Victoria Police confirmed.
“One person was arrested in relation to an assault of a police officer,” a spokesman said.
“The 59-year-old woman has been released and is expected to be charged on summons with unlawful assault. The police officer was not seriously injured.”Protests were also held in Sydney and the Gold Coast on Sunday.
