National cabinet has also decided to scrap a proposal to allow 16-year-olds to drive forklifts amid safety concerns.

On Wednesday, Scott Morrison said the federal government was considering making changes to the age of forklift drivers in a bid to deal with workforce shortages and pressures on the supply chain.

Mr Morrison said state and territory collectively agreed not to pursue the idea following consultation with the transport sector, but will instead review licensing regulations and recognise New Zealand truck driving licences to get more trucks on the roads.

“This is an issue that is an ongoing issue,” Mr Morrison said. “Presently, the system is based on time as opposed to actual experience of driving. The example is that you would get a licence after a number of years as opposed to a number of hours actually driving. Should be based on your experience of driving, just not the lapsing of time. We think that is better for safety as well as getting more truck drivers into trucks more quickly to deal with labour shortages.”

A 16 year old can fly an aeroplane by themselves. How is a forklift more dangerous if properly trained ffs

Exactly, 15 in my state. I was certainly driving forklift before 16 and have done so ever since, don’t think a licence will be required now.

But there would seem to be a few more important things for this fascist Smirko to work on in his last months of power.

If they’re so concerned about safety for children why aren’t they concerned about the potential risks of experimental ” vaccines” for children??
