Morrison gives ABC $3.3 billion to shore up extreme leftism

It will allow the national broadcaster to continue doing what it does best…”

Ita Buttrose on bringing down conservatives and protecting the Labor Party

“We’ve delivered an increase in funding for both national broadcasters compared to both the 2016-19 and 2019-22 funding period,” communications minister, Fletcher said.

“This funding commitment is designed to provide certainty for both broadcasters and is being announced well in advance of the next funding period to assist the ABC and SBS to develop their forward plans.”

It was announced early to pay the ransom being demanded for impartial election coverage. Spoiler alert: all the Liberal hostages will be shot anyway.

  1. Bruce of Newcastle says:

He’s got a political deathwish. No amount of money will buy good coverage from the ideological activists of the ABC. And now they have three billion more to beat on the Libs with.

I really resent having to pay for these green nihilists with my taxes.

  2. Rossini says:

    The country is stuffed!

  3. Ivan Denisovich says:

He’s so transparent and so astonishingly naive. Apparently he actually believes he can bribe TheirABC into impartiality:

Diary has learnt that in the next two weeks, Morrison has decided to subject himself to interrogations from multiple flagship ABC shows. With a federal election looming, we hear the PM will be embarking on an ABC blitz that will see him conduct at least four Aunty interviews

  4. Boambee John says:

The only (limited) good news is that this seems to be the next triennial funding amount, so most of it is money that Their ABC would have received anyway (though a $3.3 billion reduction would have been better).

  5. Baba says:

    TheirABC

Moderate Liberals threaten to cross floor to oppose religious discrimination bill they say goes too far

Does the ABC ever describe any Greens or ALP as “moderate”?

  6. Terry says:

    $3.3Bil? That’s a bargain (Only $1.1 Bil per year)!

    Look at the ROI.
    * $10’s of billions syphoned off (every year) for “Climate Change” and the great globalist grift.

    * $10’s of billions devoted to destroying our cheap, reliable energy (one of our few competitive advantages) and funneling the spoils to carpet-baggers and our enemies.

    * $10’s of billions syphoned off (every year) for grievance industries.

    * $10’s of billions syphoned off (every year) for the bloated boondoggles of big (morbidly obese) government.

    * $10’s of billions syphoned off (every year) for others in the Cartel (Big Business, Big Pharma, Big Bank, Big Union, Big NGO, Big Welfare, Big Admin, Big Bureaucracy….and on, and on, and on…) – there’s a party in full swing. You’re paying for it and you’re not invited.

Australia has become a world-class Socialist shithole, riddled with terminal stageIV corruption, and the criminal beneficiaries of our ruined nation think it is just fine thank you very much.

  7. Not Trampis says:

asking for examples of extreme leftism is simply silly . Inaccuracy is CL middle name.
He has been showed to be ‘liberal’ with the truth on most issues and this one in particular.

some fruit loops might want to cogitate on why the change of mind. most people like their ABC particularly in the bushar

  8. Shy Ted says:

Pay rises all round. No change to content.

  9. C.L. says:

The ABC campaigned for – and paid to – expedite the jailing of George Pell on false sex abuse charges.

Is that extreme enough for you?

  10. Lee says:

ScoMo will never learn that pandering to, placating or bribing the left never works, but will in fact anger and disenfranchise his own base.

And yet he does it all the time.

As the old saying goes: “there’s a sucker born every minute.”

  11. Franx says:

With all that money, what if the worm were to turn at the ABC.

Would that be Their ABC, “Australia’s most trusted news service”, which lags behind Channels 7 and 9 in viewer numbers for prime time news? And is only watched/listened to by around 10% of the potential audience? Those in the bush need to try this new-fangled Internet thingy.

  13. Boambee John says:

PS, sadly, I note that the standard of your punctuation has again declined. You should have put more effort in trying to complete kindy successfully.

  14. Not Trampis says:

CL you are such an idiot. A jury found him guilty. Have you ever gogitated on that and the ABC did not campaign as such. Even if they did it is scarcely left wing.
Exactly how did they pay. this is merely another CL lie. The ABC has nothing to do with the Justice system.
you need to take your blue pills regularly.

Yes why is the ABC easily the most trusted news service and the internet is no substitute.

  15. Boambee John says:

    Non Mentis

Yes why is the ABC easily the most trusted news service and the internet is no substitute.

Perhaps they only survey viewers? But, why do most viewers/listeners get their news from other sources (noting that Channels 7 and 9 routinely get more prime time news viewers than Their ABC)?

Have you ever gogitated (sic) on that?

  16. dover_beach says:

The ABC is currently so strapped for cash they can’t even get an intern to correct the egregious errors re the Kamloops Affair on their website. Heavens.

  17. Lee says:

    A jury found him guilty.

And the High Court quite correctly found there was no case against Pell. And never should have been.

Have you ever gogitated on that and the ABC did not campaign as such

No, the ABC never ran a terribly character-impugning and relentless “get Pell” campaign for several years, and there are fairies at the bottom of the garden.

The ABC and its Pell-haters have never apologised.

  18. Morsie says:

  19. Ivan Denisovich says:

Yes why is the ABC easily the most trusted news service and the internet is no substitute.

    Tony Thomas:

Journos who are congenitally prone to mistakes move across to the ABC, or so I gather from the rate of mistakes in ABCTV’s nightly sharemarket reports on the flagship 7pm News.

I put in this complaint to the ABC’s watchpuppy about a recent Monday bulletin. Remember, the national broadcaster likes to bill itself as Australia’s “most trusted” news source……

Of course there is little reason for ABC people to bother about share price stuff, as they enjoy at least 15.4 per cent employer (taxpayer) super contributions . If they’re on the now-closed defined-benefit schemes, they wallow in CPI-indexed lifetime pensions post-retirement like a flock of Scrooge McDucks (plus when they die, spouses/partners take over the pension for their own lifetime).

No wonder the Commonwealth Future Fund needs a balance of $200 billion just for public-sector unfunded super liabilities.

We’re all in this together, not.

  20. Ed Case says:

Does the ABC ever describe any Greens or ALP as “moderate”?

No, possibly because there’s no such thing and everyone knows it.
Describing some Liberals as Moderates actually helps those Liberals at election time.

  21. Boambee John says:

    Dick/Sneakers Ed

Describing some Liberals as Moderates actually helps those Liberals at election time.

Indeed. Labore and the Slime know that those seats are vulnerable to “Voices of …” campaigns.

  22. Buccaneer says:

Of course the ABC isn’t biased, I mean at the next election no one from a marginal seat is going to vote for him because the ABC couldn’t find a single person in this investigation that wasn’t all over all the ALPBC talking points about what a c#^t he is. No echo chamber there, just good old fashioned investigative journalism. Don’t wait for the hit piece on the rubntugger, it ain’t coming (or so to speak).

  23. Ed Case says:

    All Media is biased.
If people are too dumb to adjust for bias, then there going to get a Labor Government good and hard, simple as that.

  24. Lee says:

    All Media is biased.
If people are too dumb to adjust for bias, then there going to get a Labor Government good and hard, simple as that.

In other words, let the partisan (not just “biased”) taxpayer-funded ABC go on about its way.

There is bias, then there is the ABC.

  25. Buccaneer says:

I see Ed, you agree with the abc’s interpretation of this clause from their charter. ‘ to ensure that the gathering and presentation by the Corporation of news and information is accurate and impartial according to the recognized standards of objective journalism’

  26. jupes says:

SloMo sides with lefties and implements the ridiculous Net Zero policy.
SloMo sides with lefties and sacks ministers based on unsubstantiated claims.
SloMo sides with McClown and congratulates him on his closed border policy.
SloMo sides with lefties and gives more money to the ABC.

If the moron actually wins the election from here, the only lesson he can take from this is that being a left-wing retard works. We will end up with a more left wing government than Labor. We are so rooted.

  27. Ed Case says:

The money would be better spent at 7, 9, & 10, is that what you’re saying?

  28. Buccaneer says:

No, the money would be better spent ensuring we have less government, more competition. The money would also be better spent by taxpayers. At the least it would be better spent on hospitals or education but government does such a poor job of those refer to point one.

  29. Boambee John says:

    Dick

If it must be spent, let it be on at least starting to repay the massive debt that has been run up for our children and grandchildren to repay.

  30. Lee says:

The money would be better spent at 7, 9, & 10, is that what you’re saying?

So because we think the money shouldn’t go to the partisan-left ABC, ergo it must go to the commercial stations instead?
    Who is suggesting that?
    What a ridiculous strawman argument.

  31. I still like the idea of mutualistic it and giving a share to every ABC employee to do with as they wish. Popcorn would be required to watch how it turns out.
