  1. Buccaneer says:

I disagree with Tom Slater, the left as we know it is actually back, they never dropped the intolerance or liking of totalitarian power, they just moderated it for a little while so they could get their people in the right places. If that sounds familiar then it should, because even Mao went on a long March before he could destroy his enemies.

  2. Entropy says:

Yes, my thoughts too. As usual, the left is accusing others of what the left actually does. It has been doing so for more than a century now, and it is clear they won’t stop.

  3. Tel says:

    He got this bit right.

But today’s leftists are so cloistered, so bourgeois, so much more comfortable in the faculty lounge than on the factory floor, that they not only can’t lead these revolts, they really don’t want to.

However, there’s a few simple points that make socialism a lot easier to understand:
    * It’s only ever about power, and gaining power by whatever means.
    * They don’t care about hypocrisy, no strategy is off the table.
    * Every class theory is designed for the purpose of divide and conquer … and it does not matter whether you divide into workers vs bosses or black vs white or old vs young … the only important thing is to get people at each other’s throats.
    * All leftist loyalty is provisional. Workers are regarded as useful idiots while they are obedient and pay their union dues … the moment they stop being obedient they become the enemy and thus subject to smearing, jeering, howling, and ultimately violence.

Based on this understanding, seeing the left turn against the truckers should not be so surprising. They have always hated small business, no matter how “working class” the owners might be, simply because small business is difficult to control, won’t join unions, and won’t buy into the “stick it to the boss” mentality. Many truckers are owner operators, and even amongst those who are employees they often work for a business that has only a handful of trucks. It’s one part of the economy where massive economy of scale has failed to drive out the little guys.

  4. Morsie says:

According to our news , nothing is happening in Canada

  5. Buccaneer says:

It’s one part of the economy where massive economy of scale has failed to drive out the little guys.

Maybe, but they’re still trying. The latest thing is Chain of responsibility, the left has worked out it’s easier to collectivise employers than employees. They’ve effectively made employers responsible for the actions of the truckers turning them into a de facto enforcement agency. It’s also part of the reason the truckers hate the left now.

  6. Not Trampis says:

These fruitcakes in Canada want to have a coup. no wonder you lot support them. A pity few in Canada do. Strange how these innumerate commentators are so out of touch with ordinary Canadians.
Again CL shows he does not understand what terrorism is which is why he is again fact free.

  7. Boambee John says:

    Non Mentis

These fruitcakes in Canada want to have a coup.

But enough about the Trudeaupe government.

Strange how these innumerate commentators are so out of touch with ordinary Canadians.

Like the ones who stood out in the snow to cheer the convoy on its way to Ottawa?

Again CL shows he does not understand what terrorism is which is why he is again fact free.

Because nothing says “terrorism” like bouncy castles and street ice hockey? Compared to black uniformed police with their name tags and numbers covered using horses against peaceful demonstrators?

    Try to minimise your idiocy.

  8. Buccaneer says:

In the times of mobile phone cameras and CCTV it shouldn’t be too hard to find at least one actual instance of “terrorism” to support your narrative. NM, now you’ve accused the host here of being fact free, it’s only good manners to prove yourself correct.

  9. Boambee John says:

    Buccaneer

Non Mentis don’t care about your mere facts. He “knows” what is going on, he has been told by MSM “professionals” what to think.

  10. Boambee John says:

PS, note the sources of the two columns, the very “woke” Newsweek, and the openly leftist Spiked On-Line.

  11. Buccaneer says:

    Boambee, the silence is deafening….

  12. Boambee John says:

    Buccaneer

Check the times when Non Mentis posts (allow for DST).

Generally around the start of an office working day, morning and afternoon tea time and lunch time. Then he needs Googlin’ time to do his “research”. It will be a while yet before he responds (if he does at all).

  13. Lee says:

NT is clearly a supporter of leftist state terrorism and tyranny, via police overreaction and brutality against its own people, and the freezing of personal funds and accounts.
He has previously indicated his support for police brutality, even against peaceful protesters in Melbourne, for instance.
No decent person could side with Trudeau.
Imagine the reaction from the likes of NT if Trump did what Trudeau is doing.

  14. Not Trampis says:

CL is fact free. He has not shown any terrorisms. Perhaps like our friend he did not get beyond primary school however there is a definition. It is clear few other understand what the definition is either.
No polls has shown any support for these fruitcakes at all.
The only people who have no idea of what ordinary Canadians thinks are the fruit loops CL links to. No surprise there

  15. Boambee John says:

    Non Mentis

No polls has shown any support for these fruitcakes at all.

How cute! The mindless one still believes that political polling (at least the public variety) is honest!

Still, he never passed kindy, so we should keep our expectations low. That probably explains why he is incapable of finding material freely available on the internet.

    PS, lunchtine at the office?

  16. Not Trampis says:

go back with the kiddies and only comment when you have any idea of what you are talking about.
It is embarrassing when you have no idea about polling. A bit like anything else.

  17. Lee says:

    Pot. Kettle. Black.

  18. Boambee John says:

ROFLMAO! Non Mentis doubles down on the supposed honesty of public political polling. What a sucker! He probably also believes that 70% of Australians regard Their ABC as the most trusted news source, even though more watch the commercial Channels 7 and 9 for their news. Might that polling be a bit suspicious? Made among the audience only?

Have you come up with any evidence yet for your claim that “These fruitcakes in Canada want to have a coup”?

  19. Lee says:

The only “coup” in Canada is that of the totalitarian POS Trudeau against his own parliament, people, and all sense of decency, propriety and honesty.

  20. Buccaneer says:

i’m guessing NM was too obtuse to realise that the posts above asked in good manners for the provision of evidence to back up his claim.

  21. Boambee John says:

I’m guessing that he is too arrogant (and stupid) to even consider that offering genuine answers might just convince someone.

  22. Boambee John says:

    Buccaneer

Non Mentis seems to have abandoned this thread. Not doing well enough for his over-inflated ego?
