The Australian Christian Lobby is launching a campaign that could unseat key Liberal rebels who crossed the floor to support Labor in killing off the government’s attempt to legislate greater protections for religious freedom.
ACL managing director Martyn Iles said the MPs who crossed the floor had tried to compromise Christian schooling and endangered the ability of faith-based educators to teach in accordance with their ethos…
“The mood, I must say, among these constituencies is very much that they need to break the cycle of being taken for granted,” he said. “If that means they have to cast a vote which makes them uncomfortable in the short term but (creates) a longer-term opportunity for a Coalition to reflect and rebuild – I am encountering many people happy to do that.”
Key ACL targets are Bridget Archer in Bass (margin: 0.4 per cent), Fiona Martin (Reid: 3.2 per cent), Dave Sharma (Wentworth: 1.3 per cent) and Rebekha Sharkie in Mayo.
Would it not better to build a coalition within the local branches (as well as it seems, head office) and target these people at preselection time, rather than guarantee the same problem and policy outcome, except even harder, by installing an ALP cipher as the local member?
I guess destruction rather than construction is always the easier path.

Good. I don’t know the demographics of Bass or Mayo but I know Wentworth and Reid and the ACL can have an impact, particularly in Reid.
Also, the ACL should be also targeting some marginal Labor electorates.
hard to stop quislings getting preselected when the party suspends the pre selection process to install captains picks. They have only done this because the preferred quislings are losing now all the members eligible actually get a vote.
ACL did this in Finniss seat in SA, Liberal there is very pro abort, euthanize and globohomo…. he came within around 130 votes of loosing. Similar with Marshall, scraped back in by just over 100 votes.
Not quite there – but close enough to give them pause maybe!
Why does it take a women to take make a stand!
At least she had the “balls” to do the job!
It has often been women in history who sternly dealt with cowardly bishops.
Joan of Arc and Catherine of Siena being just two notable examples.
Speaking of the left and religion, I see Josh Fry has been targeted again by anti-Jewish scum.
Well he does act like a fascist.
The answer is for him to become democratic minded, to follow and protect our rights in the constitution.
Josh Fry has been targeted again by anti-Jewish scum.
Is he being attacked for being Jewish or is he being attacked for being a fascist arsehole?
Don’t conflate the two.
Asked by a member of the press whether homosexual acts are sinful, Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich, the archbishop of Luxembourg, recently replied, “I believe that the sociological-scientific foundation of this teaching is no longer correct.” Many of the German bishops agree with him.
The above is from the Finnish link.
It appears the church there (and probably many other countries) is no longer Christian.
He has been targeted this way throughout his career – and swastikas don’t tend to appear on the posters of other Liberals. So I’ll go with the former.

So you”ll posit that JF is the ideal politician whose sole interest has been the well-being of Australia & its citizens? Especially over the past 2 years, did he denounce the fascist Australian governments??
More recently, has he denounced the Azov Battalion?
Maybe more of “their” (certainly not “our”) politicians should have swastikas on their images.
Does that sound like something I would argue about this government, Tony?
I’m just saying that he has been hit with Nazi vandalism many times.
It’s not a coincidence that he’s Jewish.
I don’t really have an opinion one way or the other about Frydenberg (although I hope he holds on to Kooyong against Labor/Greens/”independent” Trojan Horses), but whatever anyone feels about him, he doesn’t deserve to be the target of anti-Semitic scum or his posters or office daubed with swastikas.
There’s a new party running in Hughes called “The New Liberals” who are as libertarian as I am a scientologist. They proclaim to be economically responsible and sociall progressive whilst believing in Modern Monetary Theory

I obviously don’t get out as much as many of you do, but what’s the idea of putting Swastikas on a Jewish guy’s poster?
Is this to indcate they think he is a Nazi (rather ridiculous) or is it to make him feel terrified that some real Nazis are going to haul him off to a Death Camp?
All they are doing is making themselves look like dickheads.
My rule about “insults” is this:
If it’s b/s, then why worry; if it’s true, nothing to be upset about.
Dr Monique Ryan also got hit with the same vandalism on her campaign posters, in the same electorate. I would guess it’s someone who just hates all politicians.
I would guess it’s someone who just hates all politicians.
Tel – that really narrows it down
t be,Ives in MMT should be immediately asked if deficits don’t matter why in earth does government still collect taxes?
