Turns out you can’t feed a population with concrete islands

Having detected a huge surge in cases, with more than 20,000 new cases being found daily, Chinese authorities locked the city of 25 million down, forcing residents into situations of extraordinary deprivation and subjecting them to brutal containment and control measures. With residents unable to leave their houses, food supplies are dwindling, and government workers attempting to deliver supplies to homes and apartments, frequently failing to do so in a timely or consistent manner. People are running out of the medicines they need to stay healthy or alive.

Speaking of those testaments to formic will: Are China’s man-made islands crumbling into ocean?

Once elected albo can return to china all those foodstuffs that we import, as a peace offering!

The Shanghai thing could be a really serious problem for Xi. Not the coof, it’s the same strain we have, fairly innocuous. Locking down 28 million people and starving them is not going to make many friends. It also isn’t going to work as the infection stats demonstrate. That’s some rise, looks like a F-15 taking off. They’re trying to close the gate after the horse has goooorne.

    LOL

It seems Covid 2019 is a cover for every dictators shortcomings.

Chinese food production and imports have been neglected for years.

One of our local “progressive” Karens suggested a week or two ago that we in Australia should slavishly copy the CCP’s measures in Shanghai.
    Really.

Firing up the locals for WWIII perhaps?

I wouldn’t look too hard for the vids of animal cruelty because they are horrifying. As 2 years ago though the only thing missing from the Convidvids is actual sick people. And don’t the shaved heads remind you of anything?

The concrete islands are crumbling? More proof of rising sea levels due to climate change!

Actually, that’s more proof that the only thing made in China that’s lasted more than one year is COVID.

It’s obviously not intended to be about good health. Shanghai was a very wealthy city … could the explanation be something related to punishing the population, putting them in their place so they remember how easily their wealth can be taken away?

Locking down 28 million people and starving them is not going to make many friends.

Classic Machiavelli … better to be feared than loved.

I doubt anyone rises to the top in China simply by being a nice guy. This looks to me like deliberately crushing one group of people in order to keep the others obedient and nervous … that’s the simplest explanation the fits the observable facts. Chairman Mao was an expert at punitive gaslighting … giving people “helpful advice” like sending them to swat sparrows and then killing anyone who asked “WTF?!?”

This is some evil shit going down.

Brutal. Tells you what it’s like living under Chinese rule.

Analysts at Nomura warned that China has been “facing a rising risk of recession”, calculating that 45 cities are currently under full or partial lockdown — accounting for 40 per cent of China’s GDP and more than a quarter of its population.
