   Embattled Liberal candidate Katherine Deves has pulled out of a community Q&A in Sydney’s northern beaches amid intensifying calls for her to be disendorsed.

   In an email sent out to Manly residents and business owners, Manly Community Forum co-chairman Ray Mathieson said Warringah MP Zali Steggall and Liberal candidate Katherine Deves had confirmed they would attend the event to discuss key local issues.

   “We will conduct a Federal Election Forum and Q&A with the major candidates for next month’s federal election for the seat of Warringah. That includes sitting MP Independent (Zali Steggal), Liberal candidate (Ms Deves) and Greens candidate (Kristyn Glanville),” the email said.
   On Tuesday, representatives for Ms Deves confirmed she would not attend.

   Her decision comes as senior Liberate moderates Trent Zimmerman and NSW Treasurer Matt Kean call for her to be disendorsed.

   But Scott Morrison on Tuesday again defended her, offering a fierce rebuttal and saying he will not “allow her to be pushed aside as the pile on comes in to try and silence her”.

   I think it would have been nothing more than an excuse to bash Katherine Deves.

   You know, for years the Libs have been attacked from the left for not promoting women or getting them into parliament, but when they do put up a strong female candidate nearly every Tom, Dick and Harry (including in her own party) pile on to her and vilify her.
   The same thing happened to Nicolle Flint.

   She should have gone, Steggall was interviewed and said that we should ignore the differences between men who have transitioned to women and biological women because there are so few of them that we should ignore that they have an advantage. Deves should have used those words to make the case that she is there to talk about how she will help the government govern and that the rest are indulging in a distraction

   Katherine should attend….but I suspect she’s somewhat overwhelmed by the hate and the controversy, especially from scum in the Liberal Party. I do wonder what’s going through her mind, I think God she’s got a husband and three daughters. I’ve had some limited contact with Katherine over the last two years since she helped set up “Save Women’s Sport”…something I support strongly. Katherine is a very intelligent and thoughtful woman who would make a superb member for Warringah. The funny thing is that Katherine isn’t a conservative, she’s a moderate Liberal however I suspect that given what’s ensued over the last week where she’s been dumped on by moderate scum like Kean, Sharma and Zimmerman and she’s received strong support from conservatives like Tony Abbott, she might be rethinking her ideological stances. I certainly hope so.

    Liberals have held the seat 73 years, Flint turned it into a Marginal, then vamoosed.

    However, as part of the massive Liberal victory in the 1949 election, the Liberals picked up a 9.3 percent two-party swing, turning it into a safe Liberal seat in one stroke. The Liberals have held the seat ever since, and for much of the next half-century it was a fairly safe to safe Liberal seat.

    Lincoln Parker was the only remaining candidate who applied for Warringah while preselection applications were open, no moderate I guess. So were Zimmerman, Keane et al, the motivators for her being parachuted in or does Scomo own it lock stock and two smoking barrels?
