There at least two factors for MSM disinterest vis-à-vis Christchurch; the victims were Christians, and it happened in Africa.
A third factor could be the possible motivation of the terrorists, whose identities are currently said to be “unknown.”
The slaughter of Christians by Muslims in Nigeria is horrific and ongoing. The media have been averting their gaze for decades, or gas lighting about it (e.g. the memorable example of Waleed Aly’s explanation on The Project for Boko Haram) when it can’t be avoided.
You hardly ever hear a peep out of the Australian Christian churches either. Shame on them.
Terrible! The African Christians could consider measures of protection and self defence per Luke chapter 22.
Honest question: Are Christians in Nigeria allowed to own guns?
“In Nigeria, the private sale and transfer of firearms is prohibited.”
“In Nigeria, private possession of handguns (pistols and revolvers) is prohibited.”
Nigeria — Gun Facts, Figures and the Law.
Main weapon of choice throughout Africa is machete followed by knife then firearms come third (although rising in popularity via availability).
If you lived in Melbourne or London you would know all about this of course.
How is the law banning decent people from owning firearms in Nigeria going?
Not very well at all, obviously; even worse than Chicago.
Dateline Monday 6th 4.45pm – I can’t even see the news report at all on the ABCs front page. 29 more important stories, including 9 dead in USA’s “gun violence” epidemic.
Clearly, The selection of stories by Their ABC shows an inclination towards white supremacism. Giving higher priority for fewer deaths in the US, than for 50 in Nigeria.
We all condemned the Christchurch massacre. What happened that day was shocking and in a just world the perpetrator would have been executed. However I remember feeling somewhat mute about it.
But let’s put it into context. Most terrorist attacks on Muslims are done by other Muslims. So, given the terrorist attacks over the years on synagogues, on churches, on Jewish schools, on planes, on kindergartens, on children’s pizza restaurants, on a Passover Seder meal back in 2002, at a hotel north of Tel Aviv, when over thirty mainly elderly men and women (some of whom were Holocaust survivors) were murdered and hundreds injured, given the ongoing slaughter of Christians by Muslims in Africa and Asia, given the mass murders by Muslims in Europe, I just can’t get too emotional about Christchurch. I suspect I’m not the only one.
Most Westerners would have thought that Christchurch, alas, was a long time coming. That doesn’t mean it was justified or anything like that. It is simply to say that Muslims had been murdering people for decades and it was only a matter of a time before an unhinged, fake macho dickhead thought he’d ‘step up’ and even the score. It’s a shame he wasn’t overwhelmed and beaten slowly to death on scene.

Correct C.L….I would just change one thing…
“Muslims have been murdering people for fourteen hundred years”.
North Africa, the Levant, Iraq, Iran, Anatolia, Syria, all were majority Christian at one time. Now, nothing.
The remaining Christian communities in the Middle East and Eastern Europeans know their history very well, be they Jew, Catholic or Orthodox. They know Islam, they remember the slavery, the dhimmi tax and status, they don’t like Islam…..and actually, nor do I. There’s nothing to like.
The ABC would regard fifty dead Catholics as a modest but promising start.

I often ask people if any country has ever been improved by the wholesale importation of muslims.
Can anyone answer that to the positive??
