   I am currently in Poland being constantly reminded of the time, not too long ago, when the US and the pope where the good guys. I visited the Road to Freedom exhibition in Gdansk – the history of the Solidarity movement and the place where communism was first defeated in Eastern Europe. Then, in Krakow, I took a tram to Ronald Reagan square – previously Lennin square, it was a tribute to the great man’s contribution to the end of the Evil Empire in Europe. Pope John Paul II is venerated here for his contribution to the freeing of Poland from communism.

   A lot has changed in the last few decades.
