He appeared at Glastonbury …apparently looking for volunteers who are used to slogging thru mud.
As it was a video link, he didn’t excite the fans by pounding out a tune on the piano using his attachment. More’s the pity as they looked pretty puzzled why the were watching this instead of the live acts they paid for.

Personally … I don’t understand why Putin wants Sievierodonetsk.

It’s not a strategic location, like Mariupol or Sevastopol, and Sievierodonetsk contains a fairly high percentage who are loyal to Kyiv, therefore will require strong police effort to keep it stable, unless the Russians want to expel half the population across to the other side of the river.

The original “Fauxmanitarian” gambit was to grab the Eastern strip, where Russian speaking separatists were oppressed by a Western-aligned government, and their fascist militia groups. That kind of made sense. However, smashing Sievierodonetsk looks rather vindictive to me … perhaps there’s some reason to see the Seversky Donets as a natural border that can be defended for the long haul, but more likely the city was smashed out of spite.

At this stage, I’m starting to doubt that Russia has any kind of well thought out strategy.

Working their way towards the Dnipro River? It would act as a convenient border. Gain more of the fertile wheat growing terrain?

The separatist movement was founded in Sievierodonetsk.

  9. Not Trampis says:

Russia clearly has resources problems. It cannot declare war because of PR reasons and they are relying on conscripts who do not want to fight in this war. Look out for belorusia to do the back up.
There was never any clearly thought out strategy in this war.

Russia has defaulted on their foreign debt. wow
