  1. Lee says:

Overseas research has shown that you’re more likely to be reinfected with Covid if you have been jabbed than if you haven’t been vaccinated at all.

  2. jupes says:

Seems like the grifters just want to squeeze the last bit of juice out of their scam. So many Aussies have had it by now and know how mild it is, that it is getting very hard to scare anyone but the most gullible.

  3. Chris M says:

Unfortunately the credibility of an epidemiologist is now on par with a ‘climate scientist’ or an astrologer because politics.

  4. Entropy says:

31.4% of the population (8,092,782) have had COVID. Or at least 31.4% bothered to report it. 38,944 cases reported yesterday, which is a jump.

234% of the population has been vaccinated, meaning third dose is much slower than the first two. Qld is the biggest laggard on third dose. 2.3 million fourth doses have been injected.

Currently there is 3,244 people in hospital with Covid, but only 108 of those are in ICU.
Deaths with Covid have reached 60 yesterday, with total deaths 9,837. That is a death rate of 0.12%.

  5. Entropy says:

according to ABS the median age of death with Covid is 83.8 years.

Curious about the flu this year? According to Aus Health:

Year to date, of the 147,155 notifications of laboratory-confirmed influenza[since April to June 19], there have been 54 influenza- associated deaths notified to the NNDSS. All deaths were associated with influenza A, of which 83% were influenza A(unsubtyped) and 17% were influenza A(H3N2). The median age of deaths notified was 83 years (range: 11–98 years).

Note that the number of influenza-associated deaths reported to the NNDSS does not represent the true mortality associated with this disease. The number of deaths is reliant on the follow up of cases to determine the outcome of their infection. The follow up of cases is not a requirement of notification, and are only inclusive of laboratory-confirmed cases of influenza. Due to retrospective revision, the variation across jurisdictions in methodology, representativeness, and timeliness of death data, and reporting of an outcome of infection not being a requirement of notification, year on year comparisons of deaths in notified cases of influenza may not be reliable.

    That’s a death rate of 0.037%.

  6. Wally Dali says:

Epidemiolojism is on par with chiropracty, organic food and gender studies. Most of the job is backpedalling and explaining away evidence which confounds their promises, and finding a way to frame it as proof of the essentially evil western enlightenment, upon which all of our wealth and stability is actually built.

  7. Lee says:

When a scientist, whether he be an epidemiologist or climatologist, aligns himself with politics, big money, or activism, he shreds his credibility.

  8. Petros says:

For many years the only successful epidemiological contribution to medicine was the linking of spina bifida to low folate levels. Don’t know of any other discoveries by them. Spot on Wally.

  9. Not Trampis says:

reinfection is not the problem. It isn’t for any disease. It is hospitalisation and death rates.
It is the politicians who make the decisions and they are satisfied with ‘only’ possibly 15,000 dying from covid in a year. covid is not overwhelming hospitals either.

greater emphasis on social distancing would make a difference with covid and flu. As would using masks.

I hope everyone has realised by now that there’s a significant cohort of baby boomers like this who fully intend for the government to try to make them live forever, no matter what they have to do to us. House imprisonment, face muzzles, banning society, mass police state surveillance, shooting at us, whatever. They were the World’s Last Hope man and it can’t and won’t end with a cold!

Non Mentis continues to deny the latest research, that shows clearly that these measures have very limited effects, and that masks can be harmful.

    Denialist!

  12. Not Trampis says:

actually as a primary school dropout you are wrong. The N95 and similar are very good at stopping covid or the flu for that matter. It is true those blue masks are useless against omicron.
    social distancing would also help.

Very strange how deplorables don’t give a stuff about how many people die from covid. Perhaps not.

  13. Boambee John says:

Hardly surprising that a failure at pre-school doesn’t understand the need for precision in language. “As would using masks” failed to specify that masks of at least N95 standard are necessary. Pre-school failures would also not be observant enough to note how few use them.

Also, one could not expect a pre-school failure to have even the vaguest idea about the social harm caused by masking and [anti-] social distancing. Sad, really, that he babbles on so much about subject on which he knows so little.

Mask wearing has conclusively been proved to have had a devastating affect on the cognitive and learning abilities of a huge number of children born in the last 2-3 years, accorded to multiple studies.

    …As would using masks.

Have a look at the report at this link – a study of the death rates with & without masks in different counties in Kansas.

    https://journals.lww.com/md-journal/Fulltext/2022/02180/The_Foegen_effect__A_mechanism_by_which_facemasks.60.aspx

The most important finding from this study is that contrary to the accepted thought that fewer people are dying because infection rates are reduced by masks, this was not the case. Results from this study strongly suggest that mask mandates actually caused about 1.5 times the number of deaths or ∼50% more deaths compared to no mask mandates.

  16. Chris M says:

Yes indeed, they aren’t done destroying the world before they exit.

Few baby boomers love God or even acknowledge him. Without salvation judgment and hell awaits them so they are right to fear death.

  17. twostix says:

Masking is a feature of asiatic hive-like societies that think nothing of liquidating millions of people for the good of “the many”.

Western man won’t be face muzzled.

  18. Not Trampis says:

    duh,

the masks have to be n95 or similar. Masks work to stop people who have covid ( or the flu) from giving it to others.

Are deplorables that stupid they are saying staying 1.5 meters away from a person will impose some sort of mental health problem?

They really doo not care how many people are killed from covid so no-one should believe their crocodile tears about abortion.

Are deplorables that stupid they are saying staying 1.5 meters away from a person will impose some sort of mental health problem?

Are so-called “progressives”(actually regressives) so stupid that they cannot tell the difference between 1.5 metres and a mask?

They really doo (sic) not care how many people are killed from covid so no-one should believe their crocodile tears about abortion.

So-called “progressives” seem not to care about adverse mental issues caused by masking, particularly in young children. Is that because they are really just selfish old fogies?

John, as I wrote at 6.31 last night, mask wearing has been shown by studies and paediatricians worldwide to have a devastating affect on the well-being and learning skills of many toddlers, despite Covid being far from dangerous to very young children (whose chances of actually dying of it are so extreme as to be practically non-existent).
This is the first generation in history to sacrifice children’s health and well-being for their parents’ and other adults sake.

  21. twostix says:

People who try and order people to stay 1.5 metres away from people already have mental health problems.

Do you understand? You’re mentally sick.
