  1. Bruce of Newcastle says:

The interesting thing is that Pelosi’s proposed visit was leaked by the White House.

That would suggest there’s some infighting going on between Pelosi and Biden. Or Bidens, since Jill may not be entirely happy with Dem party plans to ease Joe out of the throne.

The other aspect of course is the large amount of dosh which has found its way from the CCP into Biden family coffers via our friend Hunter. One might expect to get a return on one’s investment, after all.

  2. Not Trampis says:

Pelosi has always been a supporter of Taiwan.
The Chinese leader appears headed on a Trump like stupidity era. The wolf warrior diplomacy has proved a disaster. the Belt and road initiative is more and more being seen as a way for China to get foreign assets on the cheap . ( If Victoria went ahead they would have been paying below market interest rates on a project they could easily afford. )
Now they make threats of war against the USA
    Sheer genius

Abbott was an ex politician of insignificance. The previous government should have merely said he is not a government spokesman of any kind.

I see we now have something more of what Bruce cannot do.

Joe Biden’s tax records are public. Where is this CCP money?

  3. Buccaneer says:

What, senile Joe didn’t declare the 10% for the big guy? I’m shocked….

He’s just lucky like Paul Pelosi..

  4. C.L. says:

Joe Biden lost the Afghanistan War, undertook the worst military evacuation (surrender) in US history, started a war with Russia which he has now lost, empowered the Iranians to build nuclear weapons, been laughed at by the Saudis, destroyed America’s energy superpower status and wrecked the economy.

He is not only the worst President in American history, he is also the worst leader of any democratic nation in the world today and the worst leader of any Anglophone country in more than 100 years.

The truth is the Democrat Party hates the right-of-centre Taiwanese and always has.

  5. Lee says:

    Some “legacy” to “cement.”

  6. Jannie says:

Its already a lose lose situation for the USA, and The West, and Oz.

If she does go, China will lose face, and then the least that can happen is the cold war with China will be ramped up significantly, and soft war tactics will be in play. Internet sabotage etc. China cannot really afford a big war, but maybe some proxy war on a US ally might be viable, you know – to “scare the monkey by killing the chicken”. The only little chickens around these parts are, NZ and um, some pacific island.

If she backs down then China wins the standoff. The USA is officially demoted from the job of County Sheriff. China is the new boss, around the Eastern hemisphere anyway. And we are geographically in the eastern hemisphere, if not politically.

Little Wars are often used as a distraction by dictatorships to take their populations mind off domestic troubles, and win popular support. China needs something like that right now with a peoples revolt brewing about their bank failures.

  7. Jannie says:

As much as I find Non Mentis an hilarious treasure, this is too serious a subject to entertain his cretinous dribble. Only a genius can make sense of what he is writing anyway.

  8. C.L. says:

The Chinese are just angry ants.
When Abbott went to Taiwan, they said the same things:

China threatens ‘irreparable damage’ to Australia relationship over Taiwan support.

If they didn’t nuke little old us, they’re certainly not going to nuke the USA.

  9. Lee says:

The “good” old ABC; consistently partisan.
“It’s okay when we [Pelosi] do it!”

  10. C.L. says:

That said, one thing has become crystal clear to me regarding the West’s international relations at this time in history.

To wit: it is not capitulation to take stock and it is not surrender to calm down.

Western societies are clearly sick and have zero moral authority left in the wider world. The danger to us is not preponderantly ad extra but ad intra.

  11. Boambee John says:

    Non Mentis

Joe Biden’s tax records are public. Where is this CCP money?

ROFLMAO. Non Mentis, our resident financial “whizz kid” seems to believe that fraudsters always declare the proceeds on their tax returns. Why on earth, then, do the IRS (and the ATO) employ so many investigators?

  12. NoFixedAddress says:

But what does Greg Sheridan think about this?

  13. Not Trampis says:

only a primary school drop out would not have heard of forensic accountants which are employed by the FBI and any other policing organsiation.
They could find out if any alleged CCP funds are where.
He is conceding he has NO evidence.

Let us look at some of CL’s lies
Biden started the Russian/Ukraine war?? Who invaded Ukraine?
The Iranians started to try and build nukes when the Obese man pulled out of a treaty.
We know it wasn’t occurring before. This by the way ensured the radicals would win the next presidential election. Has destroyed the energy superpower status? how?
Wrecked the economy? It is at full employment. Inflation has come from O/S factors just as it has here. Inflation is the problem of the Fed.
He is the leader that reunified NATO after the Obese one tried to destroy it. Just remember he was going to leave it.
    Why are deplorables so stupid?

  14. cuckoo says:

The interesting thing is that Pelosi’s proposed visit was leaked by the White House.

As well as her flight co-ordinates.

  15. Jannie says:

    C.L. says:

The Chinese are just angry ants.

I don’t think the Abbott visit is particularly analogous CL .

The Chinese are hardly ants these days, economically or politically. Abbott was not even in Parliament, it was a private visit, and he had no standing with the government. In fact he was considered rogue, so he could not be said to represent the Australian establishment. Even so, the Chinese threats about damage to Oz/China relationships have come to fruition, even if other factors are also in play.

Pelosi on the other hand is the Speaker of the HoR. The third most senior post in the US hierarchy. Nobody in the US establishment has even critisised the possible visit. And the supposed leader, Bidenopolous, doesn’t seem to know what day of the week it is, never mind take a leadership position.

Xi is not Mao, he does not relish the opportunity to start nuking anybody. As I said “soft war” tactics will probably come into play. And there are plenty of ways to pluck the chicken beside choking it with butter.

But you are certainly correct that Western societies are clearly sick and have zero moral authority left in the wider world, and our biggest threats are internal.

  16. Lee says:

Wrecked the economy? It is at full employment. Inflation has come from O/S factors just as it has here. Inflation is the problem of the Fed.

    ROFLMAO.

  17. C.L. says:

It was understood at the time, Jannie, that Abbott’s trip was authorised by the Morrison government. It was not a private trip and the Chinese were not dumb enough to read it that way. Abbott would have been briefed and prepped before departure by the most senior intelligence people in the country.

When I describe the Chinese as ants, I’m not referring to their power; I’m referring to their mentality. They threatened unimaginable consequences when Abbott went to Taiwan too. It’s just theatre. General Milley, as we know, keeps in touch with the CCP to assure the Chinese that symbolism for domestic political consumption will have no strategic follow-through, militarily.

The US is free to officially end its one China policy. It never does. America is as addicted to Chinese money and gimcracks as we are.

  18. Entropy says:

The reason it was leaked by the White a house is this is a Wag the Dog scenario to try and bolster support fir the mid terms.

  19. C.L. says:

That and the fact that the Pentagon has concluded Ukraine has no path to victory against Russia. When the Democrats lost the Afghanistan War, they pivoted to Eastern Europe. Now that’s a bust, what to do? Answer: send the old bag to China and create a New Thing. The narrative about Pelosi acting in contravention of White House and DoD advice is total bullshit.

  20. Boambee John says:

    Non Mentis

only a primary school drop out would not have heard of forensic accountants which are employed by the FBI and any other policing organsiation.
They could find out if any alleged CCP funds are where.

I have a bridge to sell you.

Wrecked the economy? It is at full employment.

What is the current workforce participation rate, compared to mid-2019?

Why are so-called “progressives” so deceptive?

  21. Morsie says:

Why in the hell is Pelosi conducting international diplomacy in any event?
She is seemingly not doing it on behalf of the White House and seems to be on a frolic of her own.
Having said that there should be no reason why she doesnt visit Taiwan but why now?

  22. Gab says:

The interesting thing is that Pelosi’s proposed visit was leaked by the White House.

As well as her flight co-ordinates.

Just how much more help does China need?

  23. Jannie says:

    CL:

It was understood at the time, Jannie, that Abbott’s trip was authorised by the Morrison government. It was not a private trip and the Chinese were not dumb enough to read it that way.

Um, OK I stand corrected. I thought it was just a conference, and I didn’t think Abbott and Morrison would be on speaking terms. If I was Abbott I wouldn’t do nowt for Morrison after the back stabbing.

But this is the USA and it still seems kind of reckless to me when there is no coherent China policy in the US leadership, and Nancy could not even provide directions to the nearest pub. Maybe I am just worried because in September I am going to Cambodia on a motorbike trek.

  24. NoFixedAddress says:

    Pelosi is a war ghoul.

She has links with ‘a lot’ of arms dealers and pops up whenever there is an apparent opportunity.

Though she generally has Schiff accompanying her.

  25. Not Trampis says:

Pelosi has always supported Taiwan and Biden is the only President that has openly stated the US would support that country militarily if they copied Russia.
CL pray tell us how Biden started the war between Russia and Ukraine. most people would believe it was started by the country who invaded Ukraine.

Primary school drop outs make allegations without any evidence , have no idea of what a forensic accountant nor what full employment is.

no it was not understood Abbott was representing or speaking for the government at the time. It was a speaking engagement he was paid for.

  26. Boambee John says:

    Non Mentis

Primary school drop outs make allegations without any evidence , have no idea of what a forensic accountant nor what full employment is.

Pre-school failures have no idea what the workforce participation rate is, and believe that forensic accountants will find the evidence for every fraud committed world wide. (And that the US IRS would actually investigate a DemonRat president.)

And that unicorn farts can power an industrial civilisation.

  27. Lee says:

(And that the US IRS would actually investigate a DemonRat president.)

    The idea is risible.
The IRS investigate a Republican president or enemies of the Democrat Party?
    Yes.

  28. NoFixedAddress says:

by the way Pelosi has always been a fierce critic of china’s human rights even way back in 19996 when Clinton was President.
No wonder the Chinese leadership hates her.

I see still no evidence at all. Police usually find people who launder money to make themselves rich spend more money than they allegedly make.

the participation rate rise and falls. What is way more important is whether unemployment rising or falling.

  33. Boambee John says:

    Non Mentis

I see still no evidence at all. Police usually find people who launder money to make themselves rich spend more money than they allegedly make.

the participation rate rise and falls. What is way more important is whether unemployment rising or falling.

Just because you see no evidence does not mean that it does not exist, in your case it means that you do not want to see evidence.

You are still missing the point about the workforce participation rate. I am beginning to wonder if you were ever accepted into pre-school.

  34. Not Trampis says:

    Mate,
you are the clown making the allegations. It is up to you to provide the evidence. You have no evidence.
you have no idea of what police forces do when examining people who do not declare income.

Has any Central bank ever made a comment on the participation rate in their statements. Rarely. Do you even know what it is. The participation rate is a residual. What is measured are the people working and the people looking for work.

Is there any subject you are capable of understanding

  35. Jannie says:

I am officially announcing that Mentis has convinced me that he is right after all. His concise argument, deft introduction of fact, and beautiful prose, sets an example to us all. Gather around and listen people, the Master is sharing his wisdom.

he also has really good punctuation

  36. Boambee John says:

    Non Mentis

you have no idea of what police forces do when examining people who do not declare income.

Thanks for confirming that the “forensic accountants” and police forces found nothing in any of Trump’s tax returns to indicate any criminality. Or wasn’t that what you intended?

As for the participation rate, your poor understanding of it parallels your poor understanding of “dispatchable power”. Every day you demonstrate your utter stupidity, and are proud of it.

  37. Not Trampis says:

    wow,

I have not said anything about Trump’s tax returns. HE is the only who has. He has been in the longest known audit of an individual if you believe him. Few do. It is probably just another lie.

YOU are the moron who claimed Biden has made plenty of CCP money but like every time around here when asked for evidence you have none.
Biden has not displayed any once of having a large non-disclosed income.

you have yet to enunciate why you think the participation rate is important.
you can try anytime you wish. I have noted few Central banks talk about it when they are making their decisions.

you are the clown who thinks base load power is dispatchable power when it is not and cannot be so. Strong hint if it takes 30 minutes to start or close something it is impossible for it to be dispatchable.

now is there another subject you are equally ignorant about

  38. Boambee John says:

    Non Mentis

I have not said anything about Trump’s tax returns.

Indeed you haven’t, however, you have waxed eloquent about the impossibility of Biden concealing anything in his, and Trump’s were leaked (to the NYT?), and nothing scandalous has been revealed. Logically, if there was anything that “forensic accountants” could discover, it would have been headline news.

But you are too stupid to understand that.

YOU are the moron who claimed Biden has made plenty of CCP money

No, it’s his son, Hunter “Ten percent for the Big Guy”. You really are ill-informed.

you are the clown who thinks base load power is dispatchable power when it is not and cannot be so. Strong hint if it takes 30 minutes to start or close something it is impossible for it to be dispatchable.

ROFLMAO, still babbling about ruinables as the only form of baseload power. Strong hint, if it is the middle of a windless night, it will take some hours before any ruinable power is “dispatchable”. If nothing is being generated, it is impossible for it to be dispatchable, idiot.

  39. Not Trampis says:

The FBI have had the laptop for yonks. Like every American they can view Biden’s tax return.
If they believed something was remiss they could view all his bank records and the rest. That is afterall what forensic accountants do. Those very people would tell the FBI if there was a ‘smell’ about the various items they have examined.
Even a primary school drop out should be able to understand that.

You still have no idea of the difference between baseload power and dispatchable power.
Psst have a look at SA at night. wow something is generated. That isn’t dispatchable power however.

  40. Boambee John says:

    Non Mentis

If they believed something was remiss they could view all his bank records and the rest. That is afterall what forensic accountants do. Those very people would tell the FBI if there was a ‘smell’ about the various items they have examined.

Good to know that you agree that there is no evidence that Trump has been involved in any corruption.

Psst have a look at SA at night. wow something is generated. That isn’t dispatchable power however.

Odd that you are not familiar with the concepts of interconnectors and gas and diesel generators. Probably weren’t covered at pre-school. You should look at the AEMO website occasionally, to see what actually produces SA power on windless nights. Hint, the Big Battery doesn’t help except for very short periods.

you are the clown who thinks base load power is dispatchable power when it is not and cannot be so. Strong hint if it takes 30 minutes to start or close something it is impossible for it to be dispatchable.

There’s many websites where you can learn a bit … to avoid revealing your lack of knowledge.

    https://energyeducation.ca/encyclopedia/Dispatchable_source_of_electricity

Most conventional power sources such as coal or nuclear power plants are dispatchable in order to meet the always changing electricity demands of the population.

There is no “30 minute” category … instead they use seconds/minutes/hours breakdown … all of which categorize as “dispatchable” … with the faster supplies being more expensive.

    Fast (seconds)
Capacitors are able to dispatch within milliseconds if they need to, due to the energy stored in them already being electrical, whereas in other types of power storage such as chemical batteries the power must be converted into electrical energy.
Hydroelectric facilities are also able to dispatch extremely quickly; for instance the Dinorwig hydro power station can reach its maximum generation in less than 16 seconds.

    Medium (minutes)
Natural gas turbines are a very common dispatchable source, and they can generally be ramped up in minutes.
Solar thermal power plants can utilize systems of efficient thermal energy storage. It is possible to design these systems to be dispatchable on roughly equivalent timeframes to natural gas turbines.

    Slow (hours)
While these systems are typically regarded as only providing baseload power, they often have some flexibility.

    Biomass
    Nuclear
    Coal
Many coal and biomass plants can be fired up from cold within a few hours. Although nuclear power plants may take a while to get going, they must be able to shut down in seconds to ensure safety in the case of a meltdown.

You could have found that page … if you did five minutes checking. BTW … you still using megawatts per hour (MW/h) to measure energy? Have you got your retailer onto those new fangled units? Try the Patent Office, they could be interested.

  45. Jannie says:

Well the Chinese did not attack any planes, so they were huffing and puffing after all. That silly bit has had an opportunity to confuse herself. CL and Boambee are right and I was far too hysterical, my trip to a Cambodia looks safe. It’s not WW3 yet, for a while.

But the Chinese have lost face. They said or signalled that they would treat her trip as an act of war, and it’s a damp cracker. However, Pelosi’s forward view does not go further than the mid term elections in November. The Chinese look at least 50 years ahead, and they are not going to forget this. When or if the tables turn, it’s not going to be nice.

  46. Tel says:

China looks silly now … never good to threaten violence and then have someone call your bluff. I have plenty of bad things to say about Pelosi, but she isn’t weak and doesn’t back down easily.

Unfortunately for the USA … China can fairly easily step up their assistance of Putin, and that’s a way to get their own back on Pelosi for relatively low cost … of course they won’t admit doing it but they will make sure everyone knows they are helping Russia even while declaring themselves neutral. It’s a very Chinese was of saying FU while also shrugging and asking, “What’s this guy’s problem?”

China also clearly has a bunch of stooges positioned in Washington, else the flight details would not have been leaked. Who knows what else might happen?
