    ROFL

  2. Jannie says:

They chose a fine time to admit it, given the current woke pope.

  3. Franx says:

I admire the English Catholics for the way they worship, unperturbed and unembittered, in their new churches, as they do in York, for example, across the road from Minster Cathedral.

  4. Lee says:

Queen Elizabeth I would have sacked the archbishop and have him off to the Tower of London.

  5. cuckoo says:

Funny you should bring this up. Only yesterday I was remembering my visit to Canterbury cathedral a few years ago and wondering whether I count as a pilgrim. It was only when I was there that it occurred to me that it is a Catholic church, barring a few minor historical accidents.

I’d also like St Patrick’s in Dublin back, where Catholics still don’t have a cathedral.

    Combined.

    Thanks, Paul.

Off topic, but this item via the New Cat might be worth a post. A comment by me at 2015 includes what could be a useful title.

WEF Adviser Yuval Harari: ‘We Just Don’t Need the Vast Majority of the Population’ in Today’s World (10 Aug)

  9. C.L. says:

    Bookmarked, John. Thank you.
I’ll try to post it tomorrow.

WEF, EU – these are uncomplicated fascist entities.

    Indeed they are.

    You first mate.

Not only St Patrick’s but Christ Church Cathedral.

Both were stolen and are no different to the Nazis’ looted art. The ‘church’ of Ireland ought to return them to the Archbishop of Dublin.

It heartens me that the Archbishop’s seat is still St Mary’s Pro-cathedral in canon law (meaning temporary). Hint hint.

We’ll have to muddle through without Jimmy Swaggart, I guess.

  15. Not Trampis says:

    Jimmy Swaggart is a Christian?

  16. C.L. says:

I think he missed his vocation; he had real chops as a musician – like his cousin, Jerry Lee.

  17. Hugh says:

I agree with the dictum that God writes straight with crooked lines.

I shudder to think how our stolen English Cathedrals would look like now had they been in faddish Catholic hands in the 1960s and 70s. The Anglicans are pathetic at theology (see that Yes Prime Minister Bishop’s Gambit episode). But at least at the top levels they’ve retained some sense of decorum we appear to have lost entirely, especially under this lunatic Pope.

I want us to take our glorious Cathedrals and churches back when we’re worthy of them. After God has smitten us all with a really good smite.
