LOL. Bob Hawke eh? Hawke for all his misgivings had charisma. Albo has about as much of that quality as a house brick.
I was thinking how long the media can keep up this nauseating charade then I remembered Rudd. Going to be a long 3 years.
He sculled a MIDDY!
Who sculls a middy? So embarrassed for him.
what exactly is the point of this.
We know Albo does not drink or even eat the same way he did before his car accident.
When somebody else did it…
Judith Ireland in the SMH:
Why Tony Abbott’s skol doesn’t sit quite right.
What is a 59 year-old doing at a kids’ concert on a Monday night?
He started with a world tour, then took a Biden vacation, now he’s downing beers on a school night.
What exactly is this bloke doing?
He’s there to drink a beer and get a Hawke photo that can then be run in the retard news media the as part of the brand rehabilition operation that’s going on right now.
I think we’re going to see a couple of years of these Gillard style hamfisted brand and media and news cycle “management” stunts from these dumbos as the approval ratings crater.
Seriously whenever I hear him speak I wonder whether he has an acquired brain injury.
It isn’t as though he looks comfortable pretending to be as charming as Hawkie either. Albo is what he is, a natural hater with childhood issues. A trot.
Over the other side of the Pacific tamed and trained media are trying on the same for Biden and his RayBans.
Underlying these thought processes is the belief the general population is stupider than their media managers.
Being popular, for one thing.
TBH, I think what we are seeing is something akin on the Labor side as to what happened with John Howard – a leader not gifted with natural physical or vocal charm, but someone who does give out a vibe of hard working earnestness, modesty, and a significant degree of political common sense, and the public is responding accordingly.
Like Rudd!
He’s been on holiday since he was elected.
John Howard was Federal Treasurer long before he became Prime Minister. The Campbell reforms he oversaw changed the entire economy when Keating raided his filing cabinet in 1983.
Name one thing Albanese achieved, or is known for, in 25 years in Parliament.
GO!
“Being popular, for one thing.”
LOL…another preposterous statement. He’s not that popular, he’s enjoying a honeymoon, big difference. All honeymoons come to an end because reality sets in and it will with Albanese, because this is what will happen…the grocery and energy bills will soar and people will become restless and irate and no amount of protection by the MSM will help him.
LOL
Just needs some fine tuning of his ‘brain’ chip.
World Economic Forum Recommends Humans Become Cyborgs, Implant Brain Chips: There Are ‘Solid, Rational’ Reasons For Children To Be Microchipped
Didn’t Albo’s party get less votes than Shorten did in 2019 when Labor lost?
Doesn’t sound all that popular. Less than one in three Australians voted for him and his band of fellow charismatics.
err he is talking about the polls out now!
Banking de-regulation was not one of the best things Keating did. He thought which Campbell a did also it would improve competition. It did not.
Trampo, name one thing Albanese achieved, or is known for, in 25 years in Parliament.
GO!
Re polling:
Popular. (For now).
Re comparisons with Rudd – I don’t see it the same, as it was always clear to me he had a very high opinion of himself, and there was considerable fake modesty in his media persona to get elected. (Sure, he had a honeymoon, as the public is not always as sophisticated as me in detecting fake personas!)
But I don’t detect that same flaw in Albanese. Seems a modest man in comparison, and I would be surprised if the slew of private prima donna behaviour that came out about Rudd after his departure has the equivalent with Albo.
Infrastructure Australia
Infrastructure Australia has been a massive failure.
Read it properly.
They are saying quite correctly the politicians should not ignore IA.
Australia would be way better off if both sides only funded those projects IA approve of.
Perverse Preposterous
someone who does give out a vibe of hard working earnestness, modesty, and a significant degree of political common sense,
ROFLMAO. Are you really talking about Albasleazy? If so, even more preposterous than usual.

Government by eggspurts? Fugget about that “elected representatives” bit? Good to see you exposing your true dictatorial colours.
Experts should be on tap, not on top. Including you.
Having had the misfortune of attending a few meetings infested with IA people, I would say it is a classic example of the myriad QANGOs (including commissions for this or that) set up to a) look like you are doing. Something; and b) reward mates, buy off etc. with massive taxpayer funded salaries not at all reflective of their capability. The last one they were busy telling a bunch of a mayors exactly what they wanted to hear. Nothing came of it of course.
They can be safely ignored unless it gives a politician a bolster to do what they would be doing anyway.
The TV show Utopia is a bit of a instruction manual for the likes of the IA.
Good lord now we have deplorables hating governments only having infrastructure projects which have been examined by cost benefit analysis and found to be highly positive being approved.
They simply love to waste money. Being innumerate ot helps
Yeh, nah. Let me handle this one: Albanese is the polly known for saying the Rudd* government was the most successful since Federation because it got more pieces of legislation through parliament than any other.
*might have been Rudd/Our Julia/Rudd
Going on about opinion poll already?
Really is shaping up to be Gillard 2.0.

Another failure of reading comprehension. Odd as it might seem, the eggspurts of IA might not have a monopoly of wisdom in relation to infrastructure projects. They are advisers, not executives.
PS, I wonder what a “cost benefit analysis” of Stairman Dan’s Ring railroad might have said?
Hardly something worth boasting about.
Governments should be getting out of the way of the private sector as much as possible, not hindering it with more red tape.
The rudd government ensured we di not have a recession because of the GFC. Few countries achieved that.
Of course swan brought down the tightest budget in budget history. Alas it was too tight and slowed the economy down showing Keynes right again.
All those catallaxy clowns baying for tight budgets got one and didn’t know
The IA does have the expertise at evaluating Infrastructure projects. They then rank them. At least we can see how little the pollies use that information and how wasteful they are with our money.
sometimes it means getting rid of the previous legislation. The work choices legislation was simply labour re-regulation and very poor regulation.
As it is all gillard di was to de-regulate the labour market making it easy for employers to give minuscule wage rises. Of course this di not stop either Sloan and Kates warning a wages breakout was just around the corner.

You keep repeating this. Repetition does not make it true.
Trampo, do you ever ask yourself why Swan never presided over a surplus, when he supposedly presided over the tightest budget in history? It’s obvious, the budget they presented bear no reflection to the reality of the spending projections they made. In other words it was as great a fiction as many of your posts.

Could I just say that your blog performs a great service to the public.
By keeping Not Trampis and Prospero occupied for large parts of the working day, the blog keeps them distracted from their employment, thus restricting the harm they could otherwise do to the national interest.
I’m sorry but they are the FACTS.
Rudd could see what was coming. Swan was told by both Stevens and Henry what to do but dithered until Rudd told him to spend big as he should.
Swan brought down the tightest budget in history. He cut nominal spending let alone real spending. He cut GDP by 0.8 percentage points where most budget added that many points to GDP.
He cut far too much.
no-one at Catallaxy knew. Davidsson even said it was an expansionary budget. Duh
Rudd didn’t predict the GFC, he and Swan panicked when after 7 plus months of denial they were told they couldn’t ignore it any more. He then came out with a lame slogan and blew all the hard earned taxpayers money and copied the actions overseas. Because they had no idea what to do.
Costello predicted it before the election and the media rallied around Rudd and Swan to pretend he was just politicking.
Ask anyone who was in recruitment at the time, people were already losing their jobs while your heroes were selling us down the river.
A few weeks ago Dennis was going for the “Slim Dusty” look (half expecting him to pull out a guitar and start singing “my goanna don’t want me no more”). Now he’s boppin’ at a Gang of Youths concert.
He sculled a MIDDY!
Are you sure? That looked like a zippy cup to me.
… and start singing “my goanna don’t want me no more”
Apologies. I think the full title is “my goanna don’t want me no more, MAAATE”.

Ask anyone who was in recruitment at the time, people were already losing their jobs while your heroes were selling us down the river.
Speaking of “selling down the river”, don’t forget Wee Willie Shortone, who sold his union members down the river with an EBA later overturned because of its inadequacy.
And what did he sell them out for? A contribution (some $30,000, IIRC) for his political campaign fund. Not quite 30 pieces of silver, but given a couple of thousand years of inflation, probably not much more in real terms.
