  1. Boambee John says:

Strangely, in the light of their behind the scene murmurings with parts of the media, no Labor staffers have yet made their complaints public.

Perhaps this will be an incentive?

  2. Not Trampis says:

She got how much when both ministers said nothing happened.

  3. Baba says:

Expending $650k of taxpayers’ money to prove your political opponents are violent misogynists? A bargain at twice the price.

  4. C.L. says:

I think the payment and sum were approved prior to the election, Baba.

  5. Buccaneer says:

Not exactly a loyal champion of the party now is she…

  6. Cassie of Sydney says:

Another one of Scumbag’s own goals.

  7. Gobsmacked says:

Ms Miller, while you are swimming in AUD 650k of our hard earned from your petulant case of adulterer’s remorse, perhaps you could refrain from political commentary and retreat to your taxpayer funded lair.

  8. Tel says:

If Dutton was gonna save Australia then he would have already done it by now.

  9. C.L. says:

    I agree with that.

His decision to run dead on the Voice tells me he’s going to Abbott out on the big principles.

  10. C.L. says:

    adulterer’s remorse

It’s worse than that. They never had sexual intercourse. They only flopped around in bed together but without consummating the dalliance.

So this is $650,000 for teen nooky.

“His decision to run dead on the Voice tells me he’s going to Abbott out on the big principles.”

    Yep.

  12. Buccaneer says:

A bit like Bill Clinton’s bong use.

    Thank you, CL.

  14. Bruce of Newcastle says:

Re her tweet that’s not a surprise to me. The left fixate on Dutton as a knuckle dragging neanderthal, whereas righties see him as a transparent fig leaf on top of a slimy green partyroom. He’s been totally under their control, which is why the Libs are essentially supporting pretty much everything Labor and the Greens are pushing. Not the tiniest hint of any actual conservative policies, apart from some limp squeaking about immigration and nuclear energy.

  15. John Brumble says:

“They never had sexual intercourse. They only flopped around in bed together but without consummating the dalliance.”

lol. That’s what she tells her husband.

  16. Old School Conservative says:

From the Guardian, some anger-inducing quotes:
“It’s never really been about the money,” Miller told ABC Melbourne radio.

    The payment includes ….. $300,000 for hurt, distress, humiliation, dislocation of life, loss of professional standing and impairment of personal dignity;

In summary then, a consensual affair between two married people results in the Dept of Finance forcing taxpayers to fork out stacks of “go away” money to Miller despite Cash and Tudge rejecting all of Miller’s claims, with no liability admitted by the government.

Nice work if you can get it, Rachelle.

  17. Old School Conservative says:

lol. That’s what she tells her husband.

He is happy to see his wife in bed with Tudge and also get a share in the $650,000.

I see no difference between him and a gutter-level pimp for prostitutes.

  18. Morsie says:

The problem is that there is so much money in the government system that $650,000 seems like a pittance to these people.

  19. Buccaneer says:

The problem is a basic lack of honesty, by Tudge for jumping into bed with her (and with himself that she was really interested in him), by her for fronting up to complain about a situation she clearly had some role in instigating, and by the hubby for being prepared to make statements to the press then claim hurt, kind of makes it look like the whole thing was a shabby attempt at politics by embarrassment.

How taxpayers foot the bill for a consensual frolic that is clearly inappropriate on both sides leaves me flabbergasted. Isn’t it sexism to suggest she has suffered reputational harm while he has not?

Once upon a time it would have been untenable for both of them to continue in a publicly funded position. Can we have that back please?

  20. Not Trampis says:

with the greatest of respect the bill is not for a consensual affair otherwise no payment would have been given

  21. Entropy says:

Agree with Bucc. A pox on both their adulterous arses.

  22. C.L. says:

with the greatest of respect the bill is not for a consensual affair otherwise no payment would have been given

Payment was “given” to avoid a Federal Court alternative that would have cost millions.

It was consensual, as Miller herself insisted.

  23. Not Trampis says:

err it involved not one minister but two or are you saying she had an affair with Cash?

  24. C.L. says:

I don’t know what you’re driving at, Trampo.

  25. Not Trampis says:

it cannot be about a consensual affair as there was but one of those yet the settlement involves TWO ministers.

If I had to guess the payment was made so no allegations would be made in court

  26. Entropy says:

That is usually the case in settlements. It also means no admission of guilt. For both parties it means no expensive messy court case.
What are you pretending to drive at?

  27. Old Lefty says:

Miller should think herself very lucky. She got more than the amount awarded by the NSW Supreme Court to the courageous Gillian Sneddon, the former staffer who blew the whistle on convicted pedophile and left-wing ALP minister Milton Orkopoulos and got sacked and persecuted for her trouble.

  28. Buccaneer says:

The success of the west is based largely on honesty (truth, justice and the american way, yada yada). The left has abandoned honesty for constant gaslighting, it doesn’t matter if they burn some of their fellow travellers when they change the rules to suit the rolling undermining of norms, they fill the space of broken norms with the next set of interest groups that control thought and create new ways to channel money and influence.

Tired of the creep of thought control and seeing the foundation of our prosperity in jeopardy, conservatives in the US at least, have given up on the old GOP hierarchy to deliver them back from the brink and are prepared to tolerate Trumpian maga as a way to right the ship.

The useful idiots are so addicted to lying to themselves because that is what has been enabled by their elite cabal that they will say anything even twisting themselves in knots to justify the unjustifiable the treatment of Gillian Sneddon is a classic, instead of being lauded as a hero whistleblower, she got a horses head on her doorstep.

  29. Buccaneer says:

Look at how quickly they dropped Musk and Assange. Principles only matter when the exponent supports the right team.

If you have the right skin colour but the wrong politics, watch out, you’re an uncle tom.

  30. C.L. says:

it cannot be about a consensual affair as there was but one of those yet the settlement involves TWO ministers.

If I had to guess the payment was made so no allegations would be made in court

Senator Cash was accused of making Miller’s employment miserable after being apprised of the affair with Tudge. That the affair was consensual was acknowledged by Miller and is described as such in the very first paragraph of the linked report.
