  1. Wally Dali says:

Just to get this straight, is “dated” the new catch-all term for casual sexual activity?

  2. Wyndham Dix says:

Ms Thorpe resigned her position as deputy leader but I posit this honourable act did not remotely occur to her.

  3. C.L. says:

Just to get this straight, is “dated” the new catch-all term for casual sexual activity?

    Apparently yes, Wally.
It wasn’t a word Australians used until fairly recently.
    Aped from the Americans.

  4. C.L. says:

Incidentally, if ASIO didn’t know a Greens senator on the joint parliamentary law enforcement committee was sleeping with a former outlaw motorcycle club president , why should we believe anything it says about those 20 ISIS brides?

  5. Petros says:

Another example of a very obnoxious person secretly engaging in dodgy behaviour and assuming that they’ll get away with it. So many of them. Let’s hope that this will get her booted out of parliament.

  6. Buccaneer says:

Adam Bandt was on the news tonight saying Lidia Thorpe still has important work to do in justice. He needs to resign, no one that hid a relationship with a bikie while sitting on a committee in which this person would have been interested, can play a public role in any kind of justice. That he doesn’t understand this means he should resign.

Further, the PM should publicly call for an investigation of Lidia Thorpe and her dealings as the first order of business for the new ICAC.

  7. Old School Conservative says:

I wonder if Lidia used the black power salute whilst “dating”?

  8. Not Trampis says:

Thorpe was ,is and will always be an embarrassment to Parliament.

  9. Buccaneer says:

Perhaps all those folks who read out the inane welcome to country statements should refrain from doing so until this cancer is removed from parliament?

  10. twostix says:

The ABC reported that Thorpe’s staff, worried about the situation, had taken the matter to Bandt’s office and to an independent parliamentary authority, the Parliamentary Workplace Support Service.

Bandt said his chief of staff had not passed the information on to him, which had been wrong.

    lol

Back in reality the AFP told the ALP, who then told Bandt he’d better pull his head in because they don’t do this shit when the ALP are in power.

  11. Not Trampis says:

Just to help CL this is the AFP’s purview not ASIO’s.

  12. C.L. says:

Have you got a link demonstrating that the AFP has statutory authority to check senators’ backgrounds and associations?

ASIO is supposedly in charge of national security, not the AFP.

  13. Shy Ted says:

    Lidia, the Northcote town bikie.

  14. Buccaneer says:

Bikie takes Lidia for a ride, boyfriend gets change of climate

  15. Lee says:

I just got it that the topic heading is an allusion to the other Dean Martin’s classic song.
    Very witty, C.L.

  16. Not Trampis says:

go to each organization’s website and look at what we do

Do you understand why they do that. They would be already checking anyone to do with the bikie gang. In other words the AFP would know if she blabbed about secret information.

That said she obviously has no brains at all to do this.

  17. Boambee John says:

    Non Mentis

In other words the AFP would know if she blabbed about secret information.

Your belief in the omnipotence of the SFP is touching. That organisation was once described as “Unable to track an elephant through snow”. This belief of yours reflects your claimed belief that tax auditors can always discover the proceeds of fraud, and is just as silly.

  18. Not Trampis says:

given their involvement in both drugs and violence most would be under electronic surveillance.

what is highly suspicious is the chief of staff not telling his leader. I find this impossible to believe.
Few people seem to appreciate you cannot force anyone out of parliament. Sack Thorpe from the greens and she sits as an independent.

  19. twostix says:

The AFP are an arm of the ALP brahmin class in Canberra, official business doesn’t really come into it, everyone would have known a high profile Greens senator had been rooting a high profile ex Rebels boss.

  20. Ed Case says:

Thorpey would win as an Independent.
Obviously, there’s some favoured Post Turtle waiting in the wings for her job, these things don’t blow up for no reason.

  21. Ed Case says:

Thorpe told the ABC she and Dean, whom she met through Blak activism, had briefly dated early last year.

    From The Conversation
It’s a Labor Party stitch up.
