  1. Jannie says:

The British Ministry of Defence is not a source source of factual information, but it does tell you want they want their own people to think.

You are right CL that in “reading the tea leaves” this probably means that support for the war is falling in Ukraine, and is rock solid in Russia.

  2. Boambee John says:

Is this another case of “sexing up” the data? See also Iraq WMD.

  3. Petros says:

The poor enrolment nowadays in our armed forces suggests the youth are not interested in dying in an oligarchs’ turf war in a far away land.

  4. Baba says:

Why would young men seek a career in the armed forces when women are preferenced for promotion?

  5. Not Trampis says:

It is likely support for the war is falling.

    The Russian econmy is awful
you can now be conscripted into the army
Corruption which is rampart in russia because of Putin means russian soldiers do not have the right equipment to fight with
They are running down their equipment
The reason for invading ukraine makes no sense to a lot of russians

  6. Chris M says:

Pretty big on Communism too, like Melbournians.

  7. Franx says:

The MoD resorting to tricks involving rabbits in hats.
    Contemptuous of their own population.

  8. Tel says:

Trampo, any evidence for a single one of your claims? You have a habit of fantasizing in public, therefore not unreasonable at this stage to presume that everything you write is the first random thing you have made up, unless a specific link to real information is provided.

  9. C.L. says:

I read the comments threads (mainstream and otherwise) for most of these stories – and have all year. The contempt for the claims being made by the US/MoD has grown exponentially. Copy out of The Times (which is dutifully run in The Australian) is now seen as comedy.

Many people have come to see Russia as a plucky underdog at war against far-left lunatics and culture perverts in the UK, the EU and the US – and winning. Brussels’ war on Hungary and Poland is solidifying the trend. Russia’s enemy, strange to relate, is communism.

This war has cost probably 100,000 Ukrainian KIA. They walked into the Kherson rope-a-dope – a military debacle for Ukraine – and are presently being shelled into absolute oblivion. Everyone with half a brain knew from the outset that this Slavic Cain and Abel slaughterhouse could never be ‘won’ by Kiev or the so-called ‘Western world.’

  10. Boambee John says:

More brain farts from Non Mentis, with no actual evidence to support them.

A bit like his babble about electricity generation.

  11. Old School Conservative says:

But wait – Andrew Bolt and Greg Sheridan are telling me that Ukraine is winning, Russia is sliding into oblivion, and that the huge losses are all Russian troops.
I don’t understand why those two pundits are so invested in a Ukraine victory, at the cost of accurate reporting.

  12. jupes says:

But wait – Andrew Bolt and Greg Sheridan are telling me that Ukraine is winning, Russia is sliding into oblivion, and that the huge losses are all Russian troops.

I hope they didn’t leave out the ‘Putin pooped his pants’ story doing the rounds in the msm.

  13. Yank says:

Clearly, CL chooses his facts from the Putin basket. Vastly superior in size and capacity, Russia has generously refused to use its advantages and surprise invasion to take Ukraine. Rather it has chosen to appear incompetent, retreat and allow its TV propagandists and Wagner murderers to issue increasingly violent threats against military leadership and anyone questioning the cost of the crazed venture. Clearly the “West” is insufficiently Christian. Or something.

  14. Chris M says:

Many people have come to see Russia as a plucky underdog at war against far-left lunatics and culture perverts in the UK, the EU and the US – and winning.

Will they invade Europe, USA and Australia to save us all?

I’d suggest ‘many people’ don’t believe the propaganda claims from both sides, not just the Ukraine / west claims. The enemy of my enemy is actually not necessarily my friend… Thankfully my saviour is in heaven and soon to return. He told to expect exactly such events prior to his return.

  15. Riversutra says:

How many Javelin missiles does U.S. have? As to the quantity of Javelins that have already been supplied to Ukraine, this now numbers around 5,000 missiles, or approximately one-third of the U.S. stockpiles. The number of Stingers is rather less, at around 1,400, which is equivalent to around a quarter of U.S. stockpiles.

    It’s called a two fer.
One Biden keeps his cronies in Ukraine happy and they keep quiet about the Biden business deals.
Two, when Taiwan really needs to gear up against China, sorry, nothing to spare. Keeps his cronies in China happy.

  16. Franx says:

Yes, Chris M, Advent is about the longing for the coming of the Saviour, and gratitude for God abiding amongst us.
As for propaganda, we cannot so much say we are swayed by Russian propaganda since all we are officially allowed to get is the propaganda of the US/Ukraine/EU ‘Democratic’ military industrial money spinning machine. If it were not so, you’d possibly be right to accuse both sides.

  17. NFA says:

He told to expect exactly such events prior to his return.

but he didn’t say to lie down for the evil farqs!
