Benedict XVI is dead. His right-hand man is about to come out swinging. (Thanks to Buccaneer).

Looking forward to this very much.
Me too but I’m not sure about the tell-all becoming a sub-genre of Vaticanology.
I’m not aware of a precedent by a long-term PA.
He must really have a story he thinks it’s necessary to tell.
The article seems to outline a cadre of traditionalists lining up to create a brand for themselves, this being one of the actions. I’d pretty much treat any analysis or postulation from Slate as likely fiction though. If there is a book in the offing, it will be interesting though.
Given the upcoming intentions to publish, it could be that Archbishop Ganswein had been working on the book not without any input from Pope Benedict. In which case I trust it will be nothing short of edifying, perhaps intriguingly so, irrespective of whether it at some superficial level manages to please or displease.
Yes, good point. There will certainly be zero doubt that it conveys Benedict’s views. And nobody would deny that Ganswein is a very sober and solid individual.
