  1. NFA says:

    That is fabulous!

Think of all the windmills we can now build and firm our inexpensive electricity supply.

  2. Entropy says:

On the plus side with an additional finder they can increase teh construction capacity.
Anyway, the other option is Astute. It even takes smaller crews, if not as able to fully integrate with the yanks.

My suspicion, however, is that Albo has sent Rudd over there to screw up the deal.

  3. Not Trampis says:

it is only a war in Europe because [make an argument – CL].

  4. Boambee John says:

    CL

Non Mentis does not make logical arguments. He makes unsupported assertions, then repeats them in the strange belief that repetition gives them credibility.

  5. C.L. says:

It would be truly hilarious if the US ScoMo’d Australia on the fantasy subs.
    Macron must be enjoying this.

Re Rudd, early indications are that his brief in the US will be to cajole the Americans into our ‘region’ because Australia cannot match China when it comes to paying climate bribes.

  6. Perplexed of Brisbane says:

Australia has been a loyal ally to the US and has followed them (rightly or wrongly) into a number of engagements.

We were cajoled by Obama to pull our weight more in various theatres and we did, sending our very best.

Way back during the Cold War, we forgave having our own nuclear deterrent to sit under their umbrella in the hopes of discouraging nuclear proliferation. That failed.

So the US needs all the production of nuke boats for themselves. Even if they based some here, they won’t be under our direction. Unless the US is being struck as well, I really can’t see a President going nuclear on our behalf.

We could have had our own nuclear deterrent after the Brits stopped testing them on us with all the knowledge we had gained but probably ‘stupid colonials’ and all that ‘mother country’ will help us crap stopped us.

We buried an awesome delivery vehicle and replaced it with a short-legged multi-role aircraft.

But, we don’t design or build anything here anymore, so we are at the whim of other providers.

Maybe we should change our flag to blue and yellow? That seems to work.

  7. Petros says:

    Or just completely yellow, Perplexed.

  8. C.L. says:

AUKUS was a bonkers rush-job in the heat of the embarrassment accompanying the loss of Afghanistan. At the three-way zoom presentation to sell it, Joe Biden didn’t know Scott Morrison’s name. It never made any sense.

We must have nuke subs in, like, 2055 to stop China from invading Taiwan? Why would the Chinese wait till then? Good sportsmanship? I doubt giant manned submarines will even be a thing 30 or 40 years from now.

To his credit, the usually gung-ho Greg Sheridan called bullshit on AUKUS from the start.

  9. Not Trampis says:

An argument. what war criminal invaded Ukraine. what war criminal then had missiles directed at hospitals, schools, apartments, and electricity and water facilities.
Which nation nation murdered in cold blood people and then put them in mass graves.

Only a moron would say this is a neo-con war of choice. mind you it also shows you have no idea of what a neo-con is.
This does prove again deplorables are stupid ,lazy and ignorant.

    congratulations

  10. Boambee John says:

    Non Mdntis

You seem to be arguing that the Gareth Evans/International Crisis Group “responsibility to Protect” doctrine should apply here. Are you, or are you just babbling hysterically?

If you are, what action do you argue must be taken?

  11. Not Trampis says:

    No,
I am merely saying this war had nothing to do with neo-cons at all.

    [DELETED]

Biden has done well to having NATO a unified force after the disaster of trump but he is still too timid in giving Ukraine weapons to fight back.

It is the Western world not just NATO that said it would give support to Ukraine if Putin lied and invaded the country.

  12. Boambee John says:

    Non Mentis

Lol, gross ignorance is defined as 144 times Non Mentis.

Biden has done well to having NATO a unified force after the disaster of trump but he is still too timid in giving Ukraine weapons to fight back.

So much wrong in such a short sentence. Still, it is good to see that even you won’t follow Gareth Gareth Evans down the road to eternal war.

PS, link to my words supporting Putin, or shut up. I have said all along that there are no “good guys” in the leadership of either side.

  13. twostix says:

Bush? Obama?? Clinton 1 then 2??? Tell me I must know!

  14. C.L. says:

That time Obama and Biden bombed a hospital, murdering 42 people…

    Kunduz hospital airstrike.

  15. Not Trampis says:

The only war there is eternal war is if CL’s favourite war criminal wants to have war.after all he invaded the country.
our primary school drop our like our Putin fan cannot provide a scintilla of evidence that any neo-c0n wanted this war unlike the illegal invasion of Iraq of which CL was a huge fan.
They just want to support war criminals.

  16. Boambee John says:

    Non Mentis

Keep babbling, but also try to find the we link to any system we not b you me expressing admiration for Putin.
