  1. a reader says:

I don’t believe a word of her reasons for going. Reality is the opposition were going to smash her and her ego wasn’t capable of handling it. What’s a bet she’s seen in Davos on the weekend setting up her next job

  2. Cassie of Sydney says:

A truly ghastly evil female. Good riddance. It was Winston Peters who handed government to Ardern and her evil comrades, a colossal and vainglorious mistake that has probably destroyed NZ.

  3. and says:

    She can’t handle the tooth!

  4. Mantaray says:

And then there are the flabbergasted journalists telling us “she was oh so popular internationally but had very low ratings at home. it’s all such a mystery!” It’ll be the same deal when the demented paedo in the White House gets shafted as well.

Either JA reckons she gas a chance of being the first gender non-binary Secretary General of the UN….or else the first 43 year old mare to win the Melbourne Cup. It’s all in the timing i guess.

  5. Lee says:

She knew she was going to get flogged at the next election.

Family has absolutely nothing to do with quitting.

  6. Buccaneer says:

Suddenly she’s going to get married after years of making a virtue out of not marrying the handbag she calls a partner. Is it possible she suddenly found enough self awareness to realise her whole agenda is rubbish and the reason for average New Zealanders suffering hard times?

  7. Bruce of Newcastle says:

    Her legacy is pretty horrid.

Is New Zealand A Beta Test For Western Governments Micromanaging The Populace? (18 Jan)

This was posted before Jacinda’s announcement, as was Ben Garrison’s cartoon today. Read through that and New Zealand sounds like a place Winston Smith would recognize just before he was whisked off to Room 101.

  8. Hugh says:

I would love to enter politics, just so, when asked by reporters, I could say,

“I want to spend less time with my family.”

Also, I want to start a funeral parlour called “Black Man Funerals”

    That’d go down well, eh?

  9. Lee says:

The left would then all of a sudden have a road to Damascus conversion and new found respect for the “family.”

  10. C.L. says:

    Bucket alert…

    Jim Chalmers:

“Jacinda Ardern set a new standard and set a new example for the rest of us, who aspire to lead like she did, with that best combination of strength and authenticity, as well as empathy and compassion and warmth and kindness,” Mr Chalmers says.

“Jacinda Ardern is more than a friend to Australia – she’s more like a sister.

  11. Not Trampis says:

so we now know CL and the rest of the deplorables not only have no idea of what apartheid is nor do they have a clue about Trotsky.
I did not know she has banned semi-automatic weapons.
    Very impressive.

    LOL.

Contra Chalmers (and my sister who has lived in NZ for many years and was initially receptive to Ardern has confirmed this), Ardern is the most reviled, unpopular person in NZ, especially for her policy of splitting the country along racial lines.

  13. Nix says:

NZ is destroyed and will never recover.

Don’t all it apartheid, Non Mentis will have kittens.

    WOW!

Massey University Senior Lecturer Dr Suze Wilson says New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has “role modelled” how capable a woman can be, with her resignation on Thursday being a “sad day” for women’s leadership.

  16. Hugh says:

Unlike their slack Aussie cousins, NZ never does anything by halves.

The All Blacks are serenely, relentlessly brilliant.

But as a political unit and especially J.A. they remind me of the nursery rhyme:

“There was a little girl who had a little curl
Right in the middle of her forehead.
When she was good she was very very good.
But when she was bad she was horrid.”

  17. Christine says:

    Can New Zealand recover?

    Albanese praises the Intellect;
Chalmers offers a grotesque example of Fulsome
But I think she’s plain Scruffy.

  18. Bruce of Newcastle says:

A fun thing was the long line of celebrity lefties who said they’d move to New Zealand to escape Donald Trump.

That all went very quiet after Jacinda went the full fascist with lockdowns and whatnot. None of those luminaries wanted to get stuck in a boring place full of jackbooted thugs.

I hope Neve has been laying down the law to Mummy.

  20. Petros says:

More like her gross mismanagement of the pandemic and the callous mandates were going to catch up with her. Wonder where she’ll move to. I doubt she’ll be welcome outside of Auckland. Btw NZ already had strict laws regarding semi-automatic weapons. The Christchurch murderer never met those criteria.

  21. Old School Conservative says:

Not everyone is gushing with praise for Ardern.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson called New Zealand prime minister Jacinda Ardern “the lady with the big teeth” and a “Chinese puppet” just moments after she announced her resignation.
“Most authoritarian leader that country has ever had and no one else comes close,” he was quoted as saying by Mediamatters.

“An appalling abuser of human rights of her own people.”

  22. Riversutra says:

    She can’t handle the tooth!

    I’ll pay that one and
    That’s C.L. level headline!

  23. Shy Ted says:

Off to the glue factory I hope.

  24. Nix says:

A bit of hyperbole here. NZ ranks 25 on gdp per Capita. Ahead of Spain and others you’d expect to be higher. Russia with its oil is down at 48.
