  1. Ed Case says:

Every MultiNational, Peak Body, Unions, Bosses, Banks, the lot.

All they’ve gotta do once [their] Voice gets up is take their wishlists to whoever pulls the Voice’s strings and pay them to direct Parliament.
It will be like the Arbitration System, writ large, Parliament and the Courts will be completely bypassed.

  2. a reader says:

Correct me if I’m wrong, Executive Government means Governor-General (or King) in Council. That would tie the hands of the Monarch or his representative to the whim of whatever BS the unelected “voice” comes up with. That surely can’t work in any way, shape or form

  3. Ed Case says:

    Sounds that way.
Australians have been conned into believing that removing the Right of the High Court to hear arguments on The Voice is a victory.
But that makes it above the High Court and on the level of a King claiming Divine Rights.

  4. jupes says:

The Voice will work very well for the legal profession. Very well indeed. Ka-Ching!

  5. Christine says:

‘a modest step’, says Law Council person; it’s all about respect for the enduring value and strength of Aboriginal culture.

What strength? They claim to be victims; losers.

    It’s a giant step. And we’re “invited”.
I think 78% won’t be hoodwinked and will vote No.

  6. Ed Case says:

    Goering said:
When I hear the word “culture”, I reach for my Luger

    He was right.

  7. Entropy says:

Probably not the most effective argument there, Ed.

  8. Bruce of Newcastle says:

Maybe they could start a new group called Lawyers For Apartheid.

  9. shatterzzz says:

” it’s all about respect for the enduring value and strength of Aboriginal culture.”
Tales My Nanna Told Me to become the accepted historical guide to Oz .. LOL!

  10. Franx says:

Organisations such as the Law Council and Liberty Victoria continue in their stance of having sold out to globalist imperatives which drive the Australian governments, just as the LC did during covid. At that time , rather than weighing up matters of justice and freedoms and advising and acting accordingly, the Law Council’s advice to the legal profession was reference to the creation of a response plan: ‘This response will be guided by the Australian Government’s recommendations and comply with the health warnings and employer obligations’. Not much in this to do with what is right and good with regard to covid; nor is there anything about the LC that augurs well for First Nations set-ups, given its propensity for advising compliance with a Government under the sway of Bill Gates.

  11. C.L. says:

The entire Voice “conversation” is being conducted by politicians, newspaper columnists, ABC pundits and taxpayer-funded grifters. Literally nobody else in the country cares.

  12. Baba says:

An urgent investigation is required to establish why definite and indefinite articles are disappearing from Indigenous discourse.

  13. Ed Case says:

Probably not the most effective argument there, Ed.

Would you like me to break it down for you?
    Okay.
    He was saying:
When “culture” is trotted out in a discussion as a justification, honesty just flew out the window, so you might as well throw rationality out too.

  14. Ed Case says:

Literally nobody else in the country cares

Apart from Lawyers, the Banks, Oil & Gas, Big Miners and every Lobbyist in Canberra.

  15. Lee says:

“Well, they would say that, wouldn’t they?”

  16. Ragu says:

Lawyers voting for more laws from those that studied law but couldn’t cut it due to stupidity, spastication or dodgy Reno finance, to help a section of the community that acts in a lawless manner.

I’m sure it will all work out

  17. Morsie says:

Law council is a self perpetuating bureaucracy elected from the local law societies that are captured by the left.
The profession as a whole now has a soft left aspect but lots of pushback on teh Voice albeit in private.

  18. cuckoo says:

Have the AFL scheduled a ‘vote YES on the Voice’ round yet? With obligatory YES guernseys?

  19. Jay says:

It won’t be solving anything because it won’t be getting up. The public’s running its own cone of silence.

  20. Ed Case says:

    Albanese, quoted by the ABC:

“He should make a decision of where he stands on this issue because this is an issue that isn’t the creation of a Labor government. This has arisen from the bottom up.”

    Course it has.
    Total lie.

    <blockquote

    >Mr Albanese pointed to the fact that Shadow Attorney-General Julian Leeser was involved in discussions around constitutional recognition almost a decade ago,

That’s interesting, if correct, since Leeser has only been in Parliament since July 2016.

and that the Coalition’s former minister for Indigenous Australians, Ken Wyatt, was supporting the government’s proposal as reasons why the Coalition’s argument around a lack of detail was undermined.

Ken Wyatt wasn’t much of a Minister.
Bemoaned the fact that as a Senior WA Public Servant, he’d been on $416K, while a Cabinet Minister’s salary was only in the $320K range.
That was about 3 weeks out from the last Election, when he lost his Seat.
    Albanese again:

“I’d say that this should be above politics, as the 1967 referendum was,” he said.

The Coalition were conned over that, the Federal Government should never have been given the Power to make any law concerning Aborigines.
