Keen proclaims the right for women who were born women to be able to have women-only spaces in sporting teams, public toilets and the like. This she is perfectly entitled to do in accordance with the law.
The problem is that Keen is somewhat of a ranter intent on stirring up audiences. This is precisely what her opponents want, because it gives them the opportunity to state their own case in the presence of the media reporting news that looks lively on evening television news bulletins.
However, it is important to add that even a calm and considered advocate of women’s rights, such as British writer JK Rowling, would almost certainly have experienced a similar attempt by protesters to silence her if she spoke at a public event in Australia or New Zealand.
The phrase “women who were born women” is a misnomer and a left-wing pleonasm. No females are born as women. If Gerard Henderson means ‘women who were born female’, it is necessary to point out that there is no other kind. It is also odd to condemn the Victorian Opposition Leader for blaming the victim and then blaming Kellie-Jay Keen for being attacked by violent men. The major reason Rowling is “calm and considered” is that the threat of assassination restricts her to Twitter. In what universe does enduring risks at this level not make Keen a heroine? Almost as desiccated as John Pesutto’s counterfeit finessing, then, is Henderson’s via media within a via media. There will be no more victories for the Liberal Party until it breaks on through to the other side – by which I mean the world of objective reality.

The alternative is a man. Womens clothing, make up, hormone treatment or butchery doesn’t change that. The two have different biology … the science is settled.

Gerard, I like your writings but you’re all over the shop on this one. I’ve been following Kellie-Jay Keen for years, and I attended her Sydney rally. I get the feeling, and I’m happy to be corrected, that you (and others) think that women such as Keen and myself should stay shtum and quiet so as to not upset the feelings of the trans activists and their far-left friends. If so, to this I say a definitive NO.
Kellie-Jay Keen is no “ranter intent on stirring up audiences”. No, she’s an unfashionable truth teller who uses plain language, and allows women to stand up and speak using plain language. Since when is that “ranting”? Or does society still have a problem with women such as myself getting up and speaking about our experiences as female? If so, then nothing has changed, and misogyny has never gone away.
And what is worse? A woman who gets up and says she doesn’t want biological males in a toilet, or a woman who stands up and says she doesn’t want biological males competing against her daughter in sport, or a woman who stands up and says her vagina is real? Is that really worse than the trans activists and their comrades who attend our rallies and protest by screaming and shouting at us that we’re “Nazis” and “the only good TERF is a dead one” (both of which I heard at the Sydney rally)?
The problem isn’t Kellie-Jay Keen and women such as myself. No, the problem is with the trans activists and their allies. It is they who rant and bully, not us.
