   Reminds me of one of my nephews who saw a “Gays for a free Palestine” parade in a city street (he didn’t say where) years ago.

   My nephew mentioned to some there the irony that they would not even be allowed to parade in Palestine.

   As to communist hostility to Israel, it is of interest that the USSR was the first nation to accord de jure recognition of the UN created state of Israel. As I recall my reading of this over 50 years ago, this was down to the Soviet’s sympathy with Israel’s socialist program. There could be more to it.
