China is less threatening to our way of life than the Labor Party

The comments by Archbishop Anthony Fisher came a week after the Labor territory government introduced legislation which would clear the path for Canberra Health Services to take over ownership and management of Calvary’s Bruce campus in July.

In a call to arms, the Archbishop said Calvary Health Care had been operating hospitals and aged care facilities for decades, providing “quality health care to Canberrans regardless of their religious belief.”

“It’s no secret that the ACT Government want to force Calvary Hospital to provide abortions now, and euthanasia and assisted suicide in the future,” he wrote on Tuesday.

“Taking the land, buildings and hospital equipment and transferring staff to Canberra Health Services allows them to push their anti-life agenda right through the hospital.”

  1. NFA says:

The Covid Times have proven that Australia is governed as a communist authoritarian gulag.

The laws pertaining to private property have never applied in their despicable ACT.

You can ever only lease your corner of ACT hell with their laughable ‘Commonwealth’ retaining and exercising all the landhold ‘rights’ of the Crown.

How long before the communist ACT regime resumes The Cathedral of St Christopher, Forrest?

  2. struth says:

If they can do it to a hospital, we all own nothing.

  3. struth says:

    Happy yet?

  4. Petros says:

Canberra has the second highest median house price in Australia. Tells you a lot about how overpaid the federal bureaucrats are. Maybe this action will put a dampener on that. Was the lease about to run out for the hospital?

  5. Entropy says:

Even if the lease was about it run out, the ACT government clearly intends to use the infrastructure etc. so there should be just compensation. And the Catholics should prosecute their interest for what is fair value.

  6. Petros says:

    Raze it?

  7. Drax says:

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton slams hospital grab as an “attack on religion”.

Fine words, but what’s he going to do about it. The Commonwealth owns the freehold.

  8. Crusader says:

CL: I thought you were rather keen on attacks on religion?

  9. Bruce of Newcastle says:

Crusader is into projection I see.
On the other hand the CCP has been laying waste to underground churches, so it’s not too surprising their ideological bum buddies in the ACT are acting similarly.

  10. Fat Tony says:

You can ever only lease your corner of ACT hell with their laughable ‘Commonwealth’ retaining and exercising all the landhold ‘rights’ of the Crown.

Would that be the land and not the improvements?
Demolish the hospital and let them have the land.

  11. Ed Case says:

Fine words, but what’s he going to do about it. The Commonwealth owns the freehold.
    Hopefully nothing.
Euthanasia, abortion and Trannies are Labor wedge issues.
Want an extra 3 years of Hard Labor?
Then grab holda the Trannies Euthanasia, Abortion Tar Baby.

  12. Boambee John says:

Grandpa Ed still shilling for Labor.

    As usual.

  13. Entropy says:

Apparently the lease to The Little Company of Mary still has over 70 years to go.

  14. Entropy says:

I would also add that abortion services are not provided by TCH either. It is day surgery in separate clinics.
This is just a fit up to remove an ideological enemy.
