I noticed he has a Combat Infantry Badge. Was he ever in combat or just in country at a nice safe base where soldiers get to protect him?

Our senior military leadership disgust me when I see how they treat our soldiers etc.

Our vets must shake their heads at why they bothered signing up. My admiration for them grows greater all the time but my sadness at how this country has sold them out grows faster.

Who would ever fight for their country again?

That’s the thing – it’s not our country anymore – the COVID tyranny should have rammed that point home to any thinking person.

  4. Christine says:

Australian soldiers could only dream of being held in the same high regard as Ukrainian soldiers e.g., by the critics in our country; or the high regard in which Campbell holds himself.

  5. Albos Toss says:

Seems the good general has a penchant deciding which orders to obey. I would hope that a future Dutton Goveremt would look at this quislings pension as well as his gongs and sobriquets.

  6. jupes says:

What is with this vindictive bastard? He is carrying on as if the Brereton report is proof of wrongdoing, yet only one soldier has been charged and none convicted after over seven years of investigation. Does he want to finish his vendetta before the whole thing collapses in an ignominious heap?

  7. C.L. says:

Well, it’s the second time he’s done this.

The first time he was countermanded by Dutton. Now he’s trying out Marles.

    Why?

I think it’s because he knows these men are never going to be prosecuted in a court and wants them to be punished this way, in-house.

And why would formal prosecutions be avoided?

Because a barrister would be entitled to 1) discovery rights; and 2) the right to call witnesses in the chain of command – up to and including the top general in theatre (guess who) and ministers.

  8. Jed says:

    How old is he?

  9. Lee says:

I wouldn’t betting that Campbell (like General Morrison before him) is as woke as all get-out.

Whatever, I reckon he is one of those generals despised if not hated by virtually all the rank and file.

  10. Lee says:

Who was the moron (I think it was a lefty bureaucrat) who said from her public service armchair about ten years ago, that we need to get the “warrior culture” out of the military?

    FFS.

From a mate who was in his Battalion in the early 2000’s.

The ICB is for UNTAET, they all got it. Mate says the tour was completely unremarkable and probably didn’t warrant an ICB but as he says thems are the breaks.

As for Campbell himself from my mate again, two faced and an unremarkable leader in his opinion. He’s very surprised Campbell has got as far as he got.

Apparently Campbell’s name is already mud in the west too, treading this path again while retraining his medals will just pour more fuel on a fire…

Maybe time for another civil defamation case … given that public calls for medal stripping are very damaging to the soldier’s reputations and the implication is they must be guilty.

Well … if they are guilty then show the evidence, so far we have been running in circles for years and nothing has come to light. Justice must be seen to be done else it isn’t justice.

  13. Perplexed of Brisbane says:

    Rockdoctor,

Thanks for that and apologies for getting the name of the award wrong. I had it stuck in my head that it was CIB not ICB.

I must ask a couple of my workmates that have them. I know they were in country and at the pointy end.

  14. C.L. says:

Don’t forget that this is not only an attack on the men but their families too.

  15. Lee says:

The Yamashita standard obviously isn’t being applied to Campbell.

  16. jupes says:

You are probably thinking of the Sex-Discrimination Commissioner of the time, Elizabeth Broderick, who wrote a report for the ADF that made 26 recommendations, all of which were accepted. But it wasn’t just her. This was also the mantra of the CDF at the time (the current Governor General) and all the service chiefs. In other words, it is ADF policy.

Broderick’s wish succeeded beyond her wildest dreams.

  17. Entropy says:

Yes let’s get rid of the warrior culture and our defence force can carpet bomb the enemy with saturation strongly worded letters.

  18. Lee says:

Thanks, jupes; pretty sure she’s the one I was thinking of.

  19. Rockdoctor says:

Young men don’t want to join a lesbian-run army. What a surprise.

One of the reason my mate pulled the pin, he said he couldn’t keep a straight face about it anymore and the aboriginal BS.

I was in contact with him today when I saw the headlines both Campbell/retention and he reckons things will only get worse manning wise. From those who he knows that are counting down days to their compulsory retirement at 60 and basically too old the change careers, they have shaved the sizes of battalions/Regiments but have increased the workload. Soldiers as a generalisation lean conservative anyway, that I know I grew up around the Green so the woke BS isn’t helping either but it is only part of the problem.

Rumour is for the present workforce the workload is several hundred percent higher than 10 years ago. Everyone in the NCO ranks and field grade officer side are getting burnt out, so are leaving. Operating 60 year old dilapidated armoured cars and clapped out Bushmasters with no replacement on the horizon or with a parts budget on a shoestring also adding to pressure.

Bonuses and increased pay aren’t going to fix this and my industry sector in resources is reaping the rewards atm.

  20. Lee says:

    And a nancy-boy one too.

  21. NFA says:

I’ll bet campbell and milley have great slumber parties when they meet up.

Was communist campbell in charge of Afghanistan when the communist community organizer in chief wrongfully limited ‘The Rules of Engagement’?

  22. C.L. says:

Thank you for great first-hand insights, Doc.

Operating 60 year old dilapidated armoured cars and clapped out Bushmasters…

We gave 90 new (?) Bushmasters to Ukraine (as part of a half a billion dollar package).
    Half. A. Billion. Dollars.

  23. All going according to plan comrades

    LOL:

Australia is losing thousands of soldiers every year and struggling to recruit new personnel to plug the gap.

Young men don’t want to join a lesbian-run army. What a surprise.

Anyone notice how prominently displayed the african bloke was for the ANZAC day AFL match? Might very well be a solid digger, but when someone like that is clearly more valued for their skin color than people who get in because they believe in the nation and want to serve?
