Tightening its belt to the 48 trillionth hole supposedly shows DC is turning over a new lettuce leaf.

C.L. – reference?
Thanks, NFA.
“Opposition” parties in America and Australia are providing very little of just that – opposition.
Read this, weep and then wonder.
Government by slush fund
Perhaps not unrelated, but I’ve noticed in the last couple of years that the Jenny Craig ads no longer offer to turn overweight people into slim people. They now offer to turn overweight people into slightly less overweight people.
It’s the old, the consequences are too great to do x thing argument. Another example was bailing out the banks during the GFC. This is always a leftist argument even when it comes from supposed politicians of the right.
It’s gone so far with no one to push back that we now have twisted versions or fictional ones in public discourse.
Not writing special consideration into the constitution for only one race of people is racist.
Not providing subsidies for unreliable and resource-heavy “renewable’ energy generation means the world will end.
If we don’t take the covid vaccine, the world will never go back to normal.
They are all obvious and demonstrable lies. No one with the guts to call it out because we all know the next lie is – a proliferation of misinformation results in extreme right wing violence.
Elon Musk seems to be one of the few prepared to challenge the orthodoxy of gaslighting.
Alexandra Cortez is trolling McCarthy for caving on everything substantive.
She’s right.
And they’re not going to stop. Some people on the right think, ‘we’ve got them on the hop now, baby.’ Not at all. The pattern is endless, shameless lying that has no consequences of any kind.
The worst thing about it, is we all knew it would happen. At the heart of the premise is that no one is prepared to risk it all, they get a taste of power and want to stay inside the tent and there are plenty msm journalists prepared to write empty dissertations to support the whole edifice of gaslighting.
The main mechanism is highlighted in this article
If your article can’t outline the actual proposition in the headline and just consists of a stack of uncharitable (but largely accurate) observations of the team you say has lost, perhaps one does not have a strong argument? (as witnessed by the comments) https://glennkbeaton.substack.com/p/biden-lost-the-debt-negotiations
