Term limit clash: DeSantis points out Trump is half empty glass

Forgetfully, The Donald says a truly capable President would only need one term to save America.

Other potential weaknesses in the 76 year-old’s résumé will also be exploited in coming months.

  1. cuckoo says:

What on earth has happened to him?

  2. C.L. says:

He fears DeSantis, I think that’s what has happened.

His attack on loyalist Kayleigh McEnany was strange – as was his shout-out to North Korea’s Kim (on his unread Truth platform).

    Meanwhile, the Governor escalates:

DeSantis claims Florida ‘chose freedom over Fauci-ism’ during pandemic, amid Trump attacks.

“Leadership is not about entertainment,” he said. “Leadership is not about virtue signaling or building a brand. Leadership is ultimately about results.”

  3. Lee says:

And here I was thinking that only die-hard leftists like Andrews and Trudeau still think that lockdowns were/are a good thing.

  4. Entropy says:

Lee, that tweet was from 2020.

  5. Entropy says:

You know what the best thing about getting through 2020 is?

No more tedious “2020” vision conferences.

No more tedious “2020” vision conferences.

Unfortunately I still suffer from 2020 hindsight.

  7. John of Mel says:

Trump has his many faults, but if you think DeSantis is the answer, you’re very wrong.
He is part of the club.

  8. Bruce of Newcastle says:

Well if he had had a term he might’ve fixed America. At one stage in his tenure it was going to take 11 years to get all his heads of department approved by McConnell in the Senate. Every one was forced to endure the maximum 30 hours of debate. And the Senate “sat” 24/7 for the entire 4 years so that Trump could not make recess appointments. Biden is getting his weirdos waved through mostly.

Mattis (or Esper, I can’t recall exactly) even admitted once that Trump would order him to do stuff, and he’d say ‘yes sir’ then not do it.

The Purple Party was in full guerrilla warfare mode the whole four years. And the bureaucracy. Even the ones he got appointed were often compromised elites, because no MAGA candidate would ever get approved, so he had to guess and hope. Some, like Pompeo, weren’t too bad. Others like Tillerson were disastrous saboteurs.

Amazing how much he still got done, like the Abraham Accords, actual tax cuts and drill baby drilling. Without all these deep state operatives hounding his every attempt to do anything the results would’ve been amazing. And then of course they stole 2020 to make absolutely sure he couldn’t do anything more.

I like DeSantis, but he’s too close to the McConnell elites, which the base has clearly noticed. Just as they will have noticed McCarthy’s reversion to true type this week. You can’t fake authenticity, you either have it or you don’t.

    [ from somewhere on @casualthursday ]

Ten years from now you’ll put on a jacket and find a mask in the pocket.

“Oh man, what a weird year that was”, you’ll chuckle to yourself.

Then you’ll pick up your machete and continue across the wasteland,
keeping to the shadows to avoid the roving gangs of cannibal raiders.

  10. Mantaray says:

NFA (1.33pm): from somewhere else…..the hit flick of 2030 “In the Year net Zero” Plot:
“An attempt to genetically re-engineer the measles virus to cure cancer becomes lethal, infecting 99% of the world’s population, turning those it does not kill into (leftist) vampiric, albino, cannibalistic mutants (called Fauci-steins), who are extremely vulnerable to sunlight(= Vitamin D) and prey on the few who are left unaffected (extreme right-wingers the lot of ’em!)”…….

May star Will Smith and a faithful German Shepherd!

  11. Charles says:

Trouble is, there are many people who expected that by just electing the right President, everything would change and nothing more would be required. But the Swamp is very very deep and has been decades in the making, and to defeat it will be necessary to elect officials at all levels who are willing to fight it.

  12. C.L. says:

    Good point, Charles.
It’s almost a generational battle, really.

  13. Lee says:

The Swamp is akin to the EU.

Neither were or are elected, but both make decisions that affect millions, often adversely.

  14. Jannie says:

The USA is half a glass of something, it is not the full deal. Its broken, and the remains are covered in slime. There is nothing to conserve, there is nothing social, there is no constitution. The presidential election is a farce. It is the home of the Monopolies and the Propaganda Empires. Civil War and Revolution are inevitable.
