  1. NFA says:

And their execrable, laughable “human rights council” are preparing the defamation case as we speak!

Price will be found guilty, of something.

  2. Petros says:

I believe the correct term is Celtic-black cleaner.

  3. Buccaneer says:

It’s not an apology from Wilkinson, it’s excuse making. She doesn’t say her words were hurtful and inappropriate and she couches it saying the words were not meant to be private and simply meant something else.

Well we can all read and listen. The context is clear, she is a horrid racist in private and doesn’t really regret that she said it at all. Had she regretted it there would be no taken out of context comment.

  4. Bruce of Newcastle says:

Golly if any righty fessed to being racist like Lisa they’d be out of a job instantaneously, and would be cancelled by society.

  5. cuckoo says:

Funny how nobody who ever makes the ‘out of context’ excuse ever bothers to explain what the supposed context was that would render their comments innocuous.

  6. Petros says:

That would require a journalist to ask that obvious question, cuckoo.

  7. Old School Conservative says:

I sincerely apologise to Senator Price for any offence I may have caused

Straying into the Clayton’s apology territory there Lisa.

  8. Cassie of Sydney says:

The Amphibian isn’t sorry about what she said about Price, she’s only sorry it’s been leaked.

Like her flatulent husband, the woman is a grub.

  9. Lee says:

Not surprising; her husband, Peter Fitzsimian once referred to a black man as a “gorilla,” but when criticised for it whined that he was taken out of context.

    Jane Carosene

Caro is a hypocrite whose reaction would be a complete U-turn if a conservative said what her comrade Wilkinson said.

  10. Ed Case says:

    How did Wilkinson belittle Price?

Price is an obvious Token pick and styling herself Jacinta Nampijinpa Price is just pretensious.
Yeah, they were mocking Liberal Party/National Party hypocrisy, hence the Black Friend and Black Cleaner remarks, but so what?

  11. Buccaneer says:

Ed, stop defending the indefensible, mrs pirate and the crew assembled defend token picks, it’s one of their signature policies. Yet when their opponents who pick more on merit, select and get elected a talented indigenous mp, she is somehow a token and that makes it ok to pretend she’s just the hired help. Part of their schtick might have been bagging the libs, but they pissed in Price and working people deliberately and with no regret. Wilkinson couldn’t even bring herself to offer a real apology. It’s just low.

That you refuse to recognise the deliberate belittling of Price shows what a shallow and feckless imbecile you truly are.

  12. Entropy says:

It’s different when they do it.

  13. Ed Case says:

Price didn’t get there on merit, she rolled a very capable CLP Senator who also has indigenous blood, but chooses not to make a big song and dance about it.
By the way, Price nearly lost the seat, something no CLP Senator had gone anywhere near at the previous 13 Elections.

  14. Boambee John says:

Grandpa Cletus stays loyal to the leftard narrative.

  15. rosie says:

Caro called it ‘a private off the cuff conversation’.
    And no.
Her producer was there, he were taping (with consent) and she later indicated to Higgins the material may be used for a TV program (which Higgins didn’t want btw).
Not to mention the meeting was in relation to a matter under police investigation and it might have crossed someone’s tiny little mind it might one day get subpoenaed.
Wilkinson effectivly called Price a token, a diversity pick, lacking in merit, like the partisan hack she is.
    Waves to Nova.

  16. Ed Case says:

Wilkinson effectivly called Price a token, a diversity pick, lacking in merit, like the partisan hack she is.
She called her a token diversity pick, which is the truth.
A diversity pick the Liberal Party made in a National Party seat, by the way.

  17. Real Deal says:

Don’t you love mealy-mouthed non-apologies. “If anyone is offended yada, yada, yada…”

Maybe that elitist fave “Mr Ethics” Simon Longstaff can teach these idiots how to do a proper apology. I suspect he would make her apology even more insufferable.

  18. Christine says:

I like the look of Jacinta Price. I see her doing well re the Aboriginal referendum; she will be appealing.
However, as repugnant and loathsome as Lisa Wilkinson is, and acknowledging her derogatory delivery, “diversity pick” is right, to my mind. In the current climate, it’s understandable that decision was made.

  19. rosie says:

Did the fine upstanding journalist make the same judgement about Gillard’s captain’s pick?

  20. Ed Case says:

Who cares, it’s a storm in a reacup.
What’s of more interest is why Wilkinson gave her Logies speech and why
    Ch 10/Paramount okayed it?

  21. a reader says:

She called her a token diversity pick, which is the truth.
A diversity pick the Liberal Party made in a National Party seat, by the way.

I know one should never feed the trolls, racists and other idiots but this has to be called out. The Country Liberal Party is the ONLY member of the coalition based in the Northern Territory. It is a member of BOTH the National and Liberal parties. Even though it is called Country Liberal its recent members have sat in the Nationals Party room as they represent the regions. Senators Scullion, McMahon and Price all have done so.

Senator Price is a highly capable, politically clever, well researched, focussed and dedicated politician who has achieved more in the last 12 months than Senator McMahon achieved in her entire time as a Senator.

    Your racism is disgusting.

  22. NFA says:

    what a reader says…

  23. Ed Case says:

… is the sorta no brains garbage you can read at Guardian Australia any day of the week …

  24. Buccaneer says:

Ed, you’re the only one that has spewed garbage here for days. Racist garbage at that. We can all see that you just want to reserve the label of racist for your ideological opponents, that makes you even worse.

  25. Jed says:

Pretty sure this is Wilkinson’s last hurrah and possibly hubbies, too. Her name among the media ownership class is mud now. Hubby’s on notice and will need to play his cards very right to stay in the game.

  26. Hugh says:

I think Jacinta would make an excellent P.M. Based on intelligence, courage, and content of character. Not colour. I couldn’t give a flip about that. Warren Mundine would do a bloody good job, too. Again. Not colour.

As a rusted-on libertarian Austrian economist, I was surprised to be impressed by Bob Hawke. He listened to people carefully, and negotiated. Like Trump, he believed in the art of the deal. I disagreed with a lot of his eventual policies, but I certainly didn’t hate him. He was bona fide. That’s what we all need to be. R.I.P. Bob Hawke.

Politics is the art of the possible. The best is the enemy of the good.

    Go, Jacinta!

And Gina Rinehart! For heaven’s sake, we are groaning with talent in this country. Just not in Canberra. (Jacinta and a few others excepted.)

  27. NFA says:

    what Hugh says…

  28. Ed Case says:

Pretty sure this is Wilkinson’s last hurrah and possibly hubbies, too. Her name among the media ownership class is mud now. Hubby’s on notice and will need to play his cards very right to stay in the game.

They signed Higgins to a Book contract, which means she will never get the opportunity to tell her story, because there’s no way in hell the Wilkinson/Fitzsimons book is ever getting into print.
That musta been worth a pretty penny to someone?

  29. Ragu says:

Given half a chance, Bob Hawke would have punched your grandma and rooted your dog
