He was right … it changed.

All part of their World Bank and IMF communists plan.

  3. C.L. says:

The tragedy of Africa has always saddened and puzzled me.

Incredible resources but absolutely zero desire or ability to unite into even, say, three or four wealthy countries. The curse of Big Man tribalism. Or something.

  4. and says:

There’s a group of African ‘Mericans that speak very highly of Africa.

  5. NFA says:

Just got to eradicate those backward Christians and a new day will dawn in Africa.

South Africa being a shining example!

Its coming to Australia, the cultural diversity will enrich your life and inherit your sock drawer.

  7. Buccaneer says:

Follow the money, africa has a rich history of conflict and exploitation that stretches back to ancient times for example https://www.bbc.com/news/63708313

Not going so well in the Celestial Empire either.

Chinese birth rates fall to historic lows (14 Jun)

Marriage and birth rates in China continue to steadily decline and are causing great concern in the Chinese government.

Data published by the Chinese Ministry of the Interior shows that the number of marriages in China last year reached its lowest point since records began in 1986, when 6.83 million marriage ceremonies were recorded – a decrease of 800 thousand marriage ceremonies compared to 2021.

Just a decade ago, in 2013, 13.5 million couples got married in China, double the number of marriages last year. Last year, China’s population shrank for the first time in sixty years, leading the government to warn of an aging population.

Relaxing the one child policy and even giving incentives for a third child hasn’t been working. That demographic trap is going to hit like an avalanche.

The paradigm has changed, they even tried outlawing paid tutoring, that didn’t work either. Now Chinese parents cannot afford to have more than one child because the paid tutoring arms race means they have to put all their resources into one child for that child to be successful. Never mind the number of burnouts, if one doesn’t put all their eggs in one basket, no egg can succeed.

  10. Ed Case says:

The 2016 map is the historical norm, the 20th C. was an aberration caused by Colonialism.
Any change in the future will be due to Chinese colonialism.
    The reason:
China has Intellectual Capital, Africa doesn’t.

  11. C.L. says:

Not going so well in the Celestial Empire either.

Its biggest weakness – like imperial Japan’s – is an ant culture.
Also, they were suckered by Westerners – Marx and Lenin – which was a pretty stupid, non-Asian thing to do.

    Pretty good take, Ed.

  12. NFA says:

Africa does have intellectual capital, in America mainly.

Check the highest paid demographics and their not Nigerian ‘princes’.

Communism is what is crushing Africa and everywhere else.

It is a natural fit for ‘big man’ tribalism.

  13. Ed Case says:

Africa does have intellectual capital, in America mainly.

If you’re talking about the descendants of Africans taken to North America as slaves, there’s not much intellectual capital there.
These people were surplus to requirements in West Africa, that’s why they were
    enslaved and shipped west.

  14. Buccaneer says:

Ed, the history of slavery is a bit more complex than that. Wealthier, larger African tribes picked conflicts with smaller less wealthy tribes to capture the defeated and sell them into slavery. Read some history about the Ashanti, who had gold reserves behind them to embark on this mission. It was the english who fought wars to bring this barbarism to an end, no one else.

  15. Bruce of Newcastle says:

Also, they were suckered by Westerners – Marx and Lenin – which was a pretty stupid, non-Asian thing to do.

The Imperial system was not unlike communism – bureaucracy gone mad, a distant all-powerful leader, a peasant population effectively used as slaves.

    Now back again:

China targets ‘unity in thought’ with campaign on Xi’s philosophy (14 Jun)

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has embarked on a new campaign to educate its members and leaders on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

Chinese President Xi Jinping announced in April that the study of ‘Xi Jinping Thought’ or ‘Xi Thought’, which encapsulates the vision and ideology of China’s most powerful leader since Mao Zedong, would be required study for the bureaucrats, businesspeople, officials, military personnel and many others that make up the tens of millions of members of the CCP.

Mao’s back, except in this incarnation he looks like Winnie the Pooh.

  16. Buccaneer says:

the state rarely provided resources for european colonial expansion. This was mostly provided by investors creating companies, although that model varied according to country of origin and some were more feudal lord style in operation.

For example, the British east india company basically owned India until they starved the populace and the crown took over.

this is a bit of a simplification but colonialist expansion was really not much like communist expansion.

  17. Rabz says:

Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era

    Beyond parody, this is.

China is basically a fascist state nowadays, in the truest sense. The most inconvenient economic aspects of communism have largely been turfed and a militaristic corporate state has subsequently arisen.

The sooner the whole ridiculous hitlerist sabre rattling sh*tshow house of cards collapses under the weight of its manifest intrinsic absurdities, the better.

Although I foresee the CCP as “being very dangerous while going down in defeat”.

  18. Entropy says:

    Completely true Rabz.

  19. NFA says:

Is racism inherent in your character?

  20. Ed Case says:

Are there smart Dog Breeds, not so smart Dog Breeds and stupid Dog Breeds?
    What do you think, NFA?

  21. NFA says:

I’m referring to human beings not dogs, you racist.

  22. Buccaneer says:

I’m referring to human beings not dogs, you racist.

    +1

Africa is a massive continent with a vast diversity of genetic makeup, people were enslaved over thousands of years by many different groups, the common function being the use of force by the slavers and not the intelligence or otherwise of those being enslaved.

  23. Buccaneer says:

The barbary pirates enslaved people from european countries including the UK and the US. https://www.historic-uk.com/HistoryUK/HistoryofEngland/Barbary-Pirates-English-Slaves/

  24. Ed Case says:

I’m referring to human beings not dogs, you racist.

    Uh huh.
I’m talking about dogs at the moment and i just wondered what your opinion is.
So, let’s say a Border Collie, is it smarter than a Dachshund, do you think?
Remember, they’re both dogs, so no Doggie racism is allowed, okay?

  25. Franx says:

Why not keep it qkeep it to rational human beings.
That is, human beings who can be irrational but not non-rational.

  26. Buccaneer says:

Ed, total racist, at least the eugenisists were honest about it

  27. Boambee John says:

    Buccaneer

Whenever Grandpa Cletus has no real response, he tends to default to racist or ethnic slurs.
