  1. Baba says:

Albo is unleashing our RAAF to bother Putin. Australia punching above its weight. Again. My heart sings.

Even better. Ordering the construction of 100 German-designed armoured vehicles in a German-owned factory in Brissie! A thousand jobs for Queenslanders.

    Who said war is hell?

  2. Petros says:

I just realised that, baba. Rheinmetall owns the factory where they are built at Redbank in QLD. Those ALP geniuses know how to do a deal. What next? Australia donates BMWs to the Ukraine?

  3. Cassie of Sydney says:

    Keating is right.

  4. NFA says:

what Cassie of Sydney says 11 July, 2023 at 7:59 am

At Ipswich not Brisbane. They owe Queenslanders a very big thank you for that facility, Victoria and Qld competed for the site and the deal Qld offered was very, very generous. Also, not new jobs the vehicles will be built on the existing production line producing Boxers for our army.

  6. Buccaneer says:

Watch Wong blame the previous government for this, no one in the media will blink an eyelid, not one will question whether Wong spent more time surfing on her pacific island visits than working or whether her declared sexual preference might have hindered any respect for a single word she might say. Anyone who pretends the Chinese have not been mercilessly pointing out that the Aussies disrespect the Solomon Islanders by sending a gay woman (rightly or wrongly), is totally kidding themselves.

  7. Ed Case says:

Solomon Islanders have a Down Low culture going way back, the issue is that Australia is desperate to prevent any Kanaka Unity Movement, that’s been Bipartisan Policy since The U.S., us, and France got a fright over the New Caledonia Rebellion and the Bougainville War 35 years ago.

  8. Buccaneer says:

Sure Ed, sounds like more of your fiction addiction

  9. C.L. says:

Anyone who pretends the Chinese have not been mercilessly pointing out that the Aussies disrespect the Solomon Islanders by sending a gay woman (rightly or wrongly), is totally kidding themselves.

Reality doesn’t care about feelings – least of all in international relations.

Sending a lesbian around the Pacific to convince the big Christian men of the islands to hop aboard the rainbow train was embarrassingly idiotic.

  10. Buccaneer says:

Spot on CL, international relations is about finding common ground between different world views, not sending representatives of the activist class to provide a moral lecture by their presence either explicitly like the US or implied like this situation. The islanders know when they are being treated like yokels, the surfing would have just driven that home to them.

  11. Ed Case says:

The Solomon Islanders were happy to be treatred like yokels so long as Australia kept the dosh flowing to the Chiefs.
One of the ongoing problems was that Chinese make up the business class and there’s resentment from the poor as dirt locals.
It erupted into riots a few years ago and the CCP made an offer of Infrastructure investment which sounded good to the locals.
Australia coulda done that 50 years ago, but we elected to keep kicking the can down the road instead.

  12. NFA says:

    so sad case

the white folk put down the brown folk eh!

sounds like more of your racism leaking through.

  13. Ed Case says:

Does your carer know you’re playing with his computer?

  14. Fat Tony says:

Does your carer know you’re playing with his computer?

Ed – Does your Mummy know you’re playing with your little willie – again…

  15. Buccaneer says:

4 days ago the abc told us that Sogavare was downplaying China in favour of Australia, seems his actual words and actions don’t match the abc gaslighting.

Let’s let Sogavare tell us what he thinks of the rainbow mission from Australia landing on his doorstep. https://theislandsun.com.sb/no-faith-in-rainbows/

Now there will be Chinese police in a close neighbour, no biggie according to Ed, we should have fixed this 5o years ago. What bollocks, the current government owns this mess.

  16. Bruce of Newcastle says:

Keating has reverse Midas Touch. Today Erdogan has announced he’s allowing Sweden to join NATO, and he’s also let some Azov leaders return to Ukraine. Russia isn’t happy, for some weirdly odd reason. I’m not at all sure what has caused this particular triple backflip with pike, but it’s certainly athletic.

  17. NFA says:

sad case, president of their Liberal Party of Australia

    same ignorance

  18. Me says:

What next? Australia donates BMWs to the Ukraine?

Not sure there is any existing agrements to draw on with BMW, unlike with Rheinmetal who can direct the German built trucks destined for our army straight to the Ukraine.

  19. Shy Ted says:

Albo can barely open his mouth without parroting “global rules based order”. Like he’s not going to be thrown under the bus as a useful idiot.

  20. Morsie says:

Erdogan has demanded entry into the EU as a condition of Sweden joining NATO

    Wh a t a great idea
