How Rupert Learned To Stop Worrying and Love The Bomblet

ALONGSIDE the right’s cultural abandonment of badges and guns G-men, attitudes to the ongoing war in Ukraine show how markedly the old polarities of US politics have been reversed. If the 2024 presidential race was, say, Mike Pence versus Robert Kennedy Jr, the former Vice-President would struggle to win a majority of Republican ballots. Flamboyant neocon Lindsey Graham crashed into this new reality at a Trump campaign event in his own state earlier this month. The revelation that Ukraine’s SBU shopped American social media accounts to the FBI for the purpose of violating the First Amendment rights of Americans will do little for the already malodorous reputation of either culprit in the GOP’s heartland. A late pandemic effect is rising in politics worldwide. Its attributes are immunity to the propaganda cycle and indifference to the hackneyed calumnies that previously kept people in line. It will eventually shut down the war in Europe. The latest arrogant insult to the intelligence of voters will surely hasten the reckoning.

After the unknown clique that calls the shots in Washington decided to make ‘President’ Joe Biden send cluster bombs to Ukraine, it was a certainty that News Corp angle wranglers would encourage the public to disregard the ‘rules-based international order’ for a spell. The company that forced its mastheads to promote the net zero hoax in 2021 (an intervention that could have been scripted by the Chinese Communist Party) and which largely lies doggo on the Anti-Trump Coup, is nothing if not ethically flexible. The sacking of Tucker Carlson proved the Murdochs will do anything to avoid antagonising the security state. And sure enough…

On Monday, The Australian ran not one but two separate editorials hailing the wisdom of a bribed and demented clown: its own, ‘Cluster bombs: why they are a game-changer in Ukraine’s fightback against Russia,’ and the WSJ’s ‘Joe Biden is right on cluster bombs for Ukraine.’ The sentient won’t be shocked to learn that both endorsements misled readers by omission. Protesting too much, the Journal went with umbrage, abusing critics of the phony wunderwaffen as morally blind. Ukraine, after all, would never use the bombs on civilians. The Australian, for its part, referred to a Human Rights Watch report for 2022 on Russia’s use of the weapons. It neglected to mention HRW’s 2014 report on Kiev’s ruthless cluster-bombing of Donetsk. (See also the BBC and the New York Times). In other words, News Corp doesn’t want you to know that Ukraine has a track record of terrorising eastern townspeople using cluster bombs. Deceitful garbage advocacy of this kind – reminiscent of vaxxer maximalism – is not going to hold much longer.

What exactly needs to happen before these bozos realise we – the US and its vassals including Australia – are the bad guys? I doubt even the impending defeat of Ukraine will lift the scales from their eyes.

With PRM, Public Relations Media, exempt from any common ‘disinformation’ or misinformation’ legal penalty, how will anyone know!

    What NFA says…

I think the West is rapidly approaching the point where “politics” will be settled by force only. The politicians of the West are mostly subservient to external interests/forces.

  4. Roger W says:

It is not just News Corp. Can you find any MSM in the West that has criticised this?

Looking at those photos from the Vilnius clown show, it would appear the Z-Man is just about to be (or already has been) declared “expendable” by the monstrous globohomo morons fueling the conflict in Ukraine.

Anna has no doubt been given her orders.

I wonder. I suspect that things will be as with the vaxx – scales might fall, but there will be no mention of having lied or of having complied with liars, only some almost imperceptible shift so as to not be seen as identifying with losers, whoever the losers may be.
The attitude towards Zelenski at Vilnius illustrates the idea.

  9. Eyrie says:

Cluster bombs replaced the terrible napalm weapon. Napalm at least gets used up and isn’t a danger to civilians afterwards.

Yeah, that’s how they roll. The TGA is still vain and stupid enough to recommend the fifth vax, however the recommendation is for over 18s only. Kids have quietly been omitted from the recommendation. No announcement, just for some reason they no longer need it. Go figure.

Anyone taking bets on how long Zelensky will survive?

Don’t worry, in a few years the Australian will explain that we’ve always hated evil Osama Zelenksy, that’s why be has to be got by the righteous forces of freedom.

Wondering if Erdogan knew that NATO would reject Ukraine. Figured Sweden’s entry would be meaningless so why not use it to his advantage.

  16. Tel says:

Turkey is a nation facing on one side into the wealthy nations of Europe and on the other side facing the wild and unpredictable Middle East.

It’s obvious they need a good, solid, two-faced leader for a nation like that, and Erdogan has mastered the old turn-and-bite manauver. His objective is to keep dumping the refugees from Syria into the EU … watch it happen.

  17. John of Mel says:

There are calls in Russia to “punish” Erdogan for this, like stopping the construction of the nuclear power station or the LNG hub. But Putin’s press-secretary said it’s a separate issue and Russia will continue mutually beneficial relationships with Turkey.

  18. Franx says:

Can’t recall where I came across it – something about Erdogan’s son putting Erdogan in a compromising position. Things become complex when dealing powers at their most persuasive. Am reminded of how Boris Johnson changed tack after a session with MI6.

  19. Jannie says:

That clip of Lindsay Graham is very interesting. It seems the MAGA people do not trust or like him. For good reason. On the other hand, when Trump was under siege during the Muller travesty, Graham was one of the few people to show him any support, even though it was somewhat qualified.

    Something about Graham is creepy.

I’m not sure how the Australian thinks cluster munitions will change anything militarily. All it indicates is that our elites are intellectual whores that will say anything at a moment’s notice, and the stockpile of HE munitions is bare.

  22. Nix says:

Ukrainians are dying through missives falling on civilian targets and CL calls them terrorists. Not a word, ever, about the Russian invasion or todays fact that Putin by his own admission can’t get control of the Wagner criminals who make up a substantial part of his army.

  23. NFA says:

Is that the 2014 Russian invasion of Donetsk Nix?

Or some other fantasy you carry in your ‘alexis’!
