  1. Buccaneer says:

No one seems embarrassed about the naked use of coercion and blackmail to gain advantage for one racial group. That is the bit that I find disconcerting.

  2. jupes says:

    Wow. Nobody saw that coming.

  3. C.L. says:

We need a new word for this: blacketeering.

  4. Lee says:

Someone at 7News in Perth should go back to grammar school.

It is “its approval,” never “it’s approval.”

Re the story itself, it’s almost as though some of these aborigines are deliberately sabotaging the “Yes” campaign.

Keep up the unintentional good work in that regard!

    This is unmitigated corruption.

  5. Lee says:

Just a microcosm of the shakedowns that will happen should the Voice get up.

  6. NFA says:

C.L. creates the word of the day – blacketeering

    See you in the gulag!

  7. Tel says:

Just a microcosm of the shakedowns that will happen should the Voice get up.

The whole thing is a secret Chinese plot … to make Communism look like an attractive alternative to everyday standover tactics.

Women now most likely to vote no as support for Voice falls, according to Newspoll
For the first time women are now more likely than men to vote no for an Indigenous voice to parliament, the latest Newspoll shows.

  9. Old Lefty says:

…and we must believe the women, mustn’t we?

    No, not those women!

  10. Lee says:

    Shakedowns ‘R’ Us.

  11. Rafiki says:

Relatedly, affirmative action is bending over backwards.

On another related matter: a provision of a Commonwealth statute that accords a preference to Aborigines (such as Voice Act would do) is in conflict with section 10 of the Racial Discrimination Act. As a later Act, the Voice Act could displace section 10. This would need to done expressly, and would draw public attention to the racial issues character of a Voice Act. This may be why Labor’s tactic is to provide a basis in the Constitution, which of course overrides section 10 without the need to say so.

  12. Buccaneer says:

The need for the addition of the voice to the constitution highlights the total failure and irrelevance of traditional tribal indigenous laws and social structures, but everyone is too polite to mention that.

  13. Dunny Brush says:

Every successful wave of migration has been because community leaders have said don’t be Irish/ Italian/ Greek/ Viet/ Croat etc. Leave your grievance behind. The Voice is an affront to this approach. Dreadful people pushing it.

  14. Ed Case says:

Every successful wave of migration has been because community leaders have said don’t be Irish/ Italian/ Greek/ Viet/ Croat etc.

    Tautology.

  15. Boambee John says:

Turd Case again shilling for Labor. In an incoherent manner.

  16. Christine says:

‘…traditional tribal laws and social structures..’
    all deemed “sacred” now.

    the apostrophe:
A pain to see the innocent apostrophe being inserted into every “its”.
If the apostrophe isn’t understood, just leave it out. Leave it alone.

  17. Franx says:

Pope Francis had this to say in Fratelli Tutti:

    246. Of those who have endured much unjust and cruel suffering, a sort of “social forgiveness” must not be demanded. Reconciliation is a personal act, and no one can impose it upon an entire society, however great the need to foster it.

Perhaps the Synodal Church might choose to reflect upon its role in the scheme of things involving the voice.

  18. Rossini says:

Laughed so hard that my “tits” fell off!

  19. Buccaneer says:

We need a new word for this: blacketeering.

    Straight to the Cactionary

  20. Old Lefty says:

What will the Voice say? Gimme gimme gimme.
