  1. NFA says:

Indonesia is about to join BRICS+

  2. NFA says:

And we have a permanent Australian Naval Officer position on the all new USS Canberra!

  3. Old Lefty says:

The ABC loves to look down its nose at the mere bogan redneck tabloids, but that headline was tabloidese at its worst. DIO staff, including allied secondees, are not spies. They are analysts.

  4. Old Lefty says:

I notice that the ABC has now changed the headline to ‘military analysts’. A rare win for accuracy.

  5. Eyrie says:

You don’t think the “military analysts” aren’t spying on us?
I want to know what the Biden crime syndicate has on the ALP to get them to do so much unseemly areslicking.

  6. C.L. says:

The job of the American spooks will have nothing to do with “regional threats.”

Not unless Papua New Guinea is planning an invasion.

Their real job is to spy on Australians. That’s the price of AUKUS. The Americans now control Canberra’s war policy, order arrests, cancel the legal rights of Australian citizens and superintend Australian spy agencies.

Blinken’s rebuke when humbly asked by Penny Wong to stop torturing Julian Assange was a clanging, brutal reminder that Australian sovereignty has been sold.

Has Wong anything to say about her own government holding Duggan under arrest at the behest of the U.S. government, and if not why not?

  8. Tel says:

Can’t they just send balloons, like any normal spy agency?

  9. C.L. says:

    Interesting!

I’ll actually laugh if AUKUS is sunk.

  10. NFA says:

    C.L.

You have to remember that their Australian Labor Party is a member of the international Progressive Alliance ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progressive_Alliance# ) along with their USA Democrat Party.

AUKUS is a facade to spend taxpayer money.

  11. Lee says:

Normally I don’t take much notice of him these days, but Greg Sheridan recently suggested that if the Labor Left faction (of which Albo is one, ironically) gains control and sinks AUKUS, it will be very damaging for Albo personally.

  12. Petros says:

Are we a vassal state or satrap?

Are we a vassal state or satrap?

What difference at this point does it matter?

  14. Eyrie says:

A satrap served as a viceroy to the king, though with considerable autonomy. The word came to suggest tyranny or ostentatious splendour, and its modern usage is a pejorative and refers to any subordinate or local ruler, usually with unfavourable connotations of corruption.

    Sounds about right.

  15. Squiz says:

What about running a propaganda wing of foreign government?
