But, but, but, aren’t we always told it’s a religion of peace! A religion of pieces more likely.
What often gets whipped up into a religious or a political frenzy is an appeal to revenge for painted past wrongs, an appeal to envy, sometimes to greed, and sometimes to painted fear of the other. It happens regularly in war, as it did in the Balkans when friends and neighbours were encouraged to turn on each other based mainly on religious differences (among ethnically and culturally and linguistically similar if not identical groups) which had been harmoniously assimilated until the belief systems were engineered to signify enmity and a justified striving for murder. I think it is only now becoming clearer as to how and why the aiding and abetting was done in the Balkans.
So what is the ABC now telling us in the story about Pakistan, and why. I somehow doubt it’s because they care one way or the other about the theological position taken by either the Muslim or Christian Pakistanis.
If you want revenge against a Christian in these Islamic toilet countries, just accuse her (it’s usually a woman) of having committed ‘blasphemy’. Then a mob will appear to kill her, steal the family’s property and burn down their home (along with a church, preferably). Inevitably, the prime minister/president will release a statement saying he’s shocked and appalled, the perpetrators will be brought to justice, etc.
Are all Islamic signs of hate forbidden under the new anti-hate laws?
I don’t suppose the US State Department spokesperson intervening (inexplicably in this case) and calling for an ‘investigation’ (an investigation not a condemnation) of the attacks has anything to do with US foreign policy involving Pakistan.
On that subject, Franx – and amplifying points I made in my essay on foreign policy yesterday…

Negotiations Cannot Bring Peace Between the USA and Islam
I am starting to think life under an Islamic Caliphate would be better than under the Satanic Cult, especially after they get total control. At least Islam recognises Christianity. Christians were allowed to have children in the Caliphate, even if they put on a Jizya tax and steal all first born males for military training or suicide bombers, and prettiest girls for some harem. The choice between slavery and annihilation is never easy.
That’s only the most recent of many many stories like this. I constantly pray for a Reformed church in Islamabad, fortunately they have good relations with their Muslim neighbours and Islamabad seems to be spared from the latest round of persecution. But that could change in an instant.
The other one is nationalist Hindus in India persecuting Christians. Quite a lot of that going on also, which to their credit Breitbart reports on. Nary a whisper in any other outlets.
Oh and the “moderate” muslims in Egypt persecuting Coptic Christians. It’s sad when you try to worship in your own house and a bunch of feral muslims turn up and burn it down aided by the police. Egyptian muslims are horrible.

Quite right Cl. Religious bigotry is truly evil.
I know a couple of religious bigots. Nowhere near being evil.
More a case of narrow-mindedness.
Until they burn down your house Christine.
