  1. NFA says:

Can’t get much ‘looser’ than that!

  2. Wally Dalí says:

    War is Peace!
    Canberra is Traditional Aboriginal Communities!
    Freedom is Slavery!
    Apartheid is Deeply Liberal!
    etc etc

  3. Cassie of Sydney says:

    Julian Looser, Liberal for Labor.

  4. Buccaneer says:

How might one be sure that decision making is going to actually be closer to communities when many of those communities say they weren’t consulted and it has not been revealed how these communities or their representatives will be selected. We really only know the numbers of people.

The history of the alp suggests they won’t be able to resist stacking this with ideological travelers.

  5. Bruce of Newcastle says:

If you could hook a generator to the Voice spin coming out from the prog elite class you could power Australia.

They’re trying everything – emotional blackmail, warm fuzzies, gaslighting, famous talking heads, catchy music, door-to-door spruikers, tax deductible donations, MSM astroturfing and racism accusations.

What they’re not trying is detail, explanation or honesty. They can’t because the punters will take one look at that and vote hell no. Which they should.

  6. C.L. says:

Not to mention Nazi and white supremacist accusations, Bruce.

On Twitter, Angry Anderson is now a Nazi, for example.

  7. John Brumble says:

    1) The claim that this actually moves decision-making closer to the communities is a fantasy.
    2) Even if it were not, such a statement leaves out the most important bits. That is, the responsibility for delivering on and owning the results of those decisions.

But as I’ve said before: these people suddenly claiming to be all keen for classical liberal ideas wouldn’t know free market economy if it beat them in two World Wars.

  8. C.L. says:

All the Voice is – all it has ever been – is a left-wing vendetta against the Liberals for abolishing ATSIC. These Labor figures and associates came up with a smart-arse plan to ensure ATSIC II can suckle permanently at the Treasury’s bosom and never be held accountable or shut down again.

As for Leeser’s risible Thatcher angle, we saw the same thing from the same people during the gay ‘marriage’ debate. Liberal Wets led by Malcolm Turnbull (making a mockery of his newly-adopted faith) argued that SSM was a ‘conservative’ reform because marriage is a social good.

  9. Buccaneer says:

The Voice referendum is rolled gold evidence that government intervention doesn’t work, it’s also evidence that the left can’t solve this problem, they simply are not interested in finding out what the problems are or proposing solutions to fix them. If more government were the solution, the problem would already be solved and there would be no need to enshrine a special privilege in the constitution for one race over all others.

  10. jupes says:

The Aboriginal industry will never allow dysfunction Aboriginal communities to improve. They are the goose that lays the golden eggs.

  11. Morsie says:

This bloke needs to be punted

  12. Mantaray says:

Pretty weird historical reference from Leeser…

Meanwhile in another unexpected reference, the greatest…maybe “only” 2nd greatest…statesman Oz has ever produced…JW Howard… is raised even further in the pantheon of greats…

Here’s Ursula Von der Leyen on the boat-people crisis in the EU: https://youtu.be/b_0wpT_7L0w?t=166.

As always Howard nailed it long long ago…and STILL rides supreme as Oz PM extraordinaire!

BTW: For pants-wetters with Howard Derangement Syndrome: I can’t decide whether to visit the local Pistol Club this afternoon,,,, or the local Gun Club….or the local Hunting Club, or else go Pig-shooting at any one of a hundred private properties around the district. We all had our guns taken away by Little Johnny, DIDN”T WE?!
    Well, didn’t we?

  13. NFA says:

“Kill the pig… kill the pig”.

  14. John of Mel says:

    Well, didn’t we?

Based on this, Soviet Union didn’t take away citizens’ guns either.

  15. Mantaray says:

John of Mel. do you want the addresses of all the Clubs and property owners? you can then ring them one by one to tell THEM those rifles and pistols they all have are not real.

Seriously: “Mel” is along way from the real world….

    In Victoria, isn’t it?

  16. NFA says:

Mantaray… and are those guns registered and kept in a safe place?

  17. NFA says:

Does Christopher Monckton, 3rd Viscount Monckton of Brenchley know what “looser” said?

  18. John of Mel says:

John of Mel. do you want the addresses of all the Clubs and property owners? you can then ring them one by one to tell THEM those rifles and pistols they all have are not real.

    Of course they are real.
Like they were real in the USSR. I was born there. Was shooting a pistol in a youth sports club at the age of 10. My grandfather was hunting regularly.
It’s the conditions on ownership and the kind of weapons you’re allowed to have that is the problem I believe.
I looked into owning a pistol here. It’s almost more headache than a marriage. Well, at least it requires almost a similar level of commitment (club membership, regular competitions). And for what? To shoot on a range a few times a year? You can’t use it for anything else. You can’t defend your family with it.
And, yes – Victoria is a sad place. But it’s too hard to move after more than 15 years here, especially with kids.

  19. Megan says:

Oh look! It’s the J Loser proving once more his lack of brain capacity with which to actually think.

    Shut up!

  20. dover_beach says:

Please don’t tell me he mentioned subsidiarity?

  21. Faideeeeee! says:

Leeser is really, really dumb. Academia is the only place where he could go after the YES farce ends.
