   Teachers not teaching, just task setting and administering woke ideological stunts, happens here too. The kids that get ahead are the ones whose parents pay for tutoring, where they actually get taught.

   Baltimore is somewhat the city reflected in the show ‘The Wire’ which was based on a book Homicide, Life on the Streets written by a journalist who spent three years riding with the Baltimore Homicide Squad.
   If parents don’t value their children’s education no amount of money is going to fix the problem

   Much as foetal alcohol syndrome is the main cause of academic failure in Aboriginal communities, Baltimore has a second generation of crack babies, both being something any type of education cannot overcome. Poor memories, concentration etc ain’t conducive to success.

   Years ago a friend of mine interning in the mat ward at napean hospital would regale us about the antenatal classes.
   30 yo grandmothers were a regular. At last they turned up with their daughters I suppose

   Some people would prefer objective truth or Judeo-Christian or social capital or marriage & family instead of my “Christianity.” Equally correct.

   Baltimore was a powerhouse once but all the industry was shipped overseas by the same geniuses who now talk about China and supply chains.

   Baltimore is in the top 5 crime cities in USA .. it’s gun related crimes are a top 3 entry so worrying about their education standards is, probably, not a significant factor in Maryland domestic politics …….
