He hasn’t got a wiki entry yet so he’ll have to try harder.

  2. Ed Case says:

Sounds like a Jordan Peterson argument.

  3. Entropy says:

No wiki entry? A grave crime indeed.
On that matter I was looking into a person I might have dealings with, and discovered they had a Wikipedia page. It seemed extraordinarily glowing, a player in the Gillard climate space. Turns out she was an editor.

I find their wiki invaluable in checking some of these scum… it is most revealing.

  5. C.L. says:

Folks, could we please comment on the actual topic?

The topic – per the excellent MacIntyre – is that people who identify themselves as conservatives think it’s a killer polemic to ‘call out’ the gays for supporting the Palestinians – because the Palestinians wouldn’t be as endlessly indulgent towards them as we are.

Except that is not a defence of the West. It’s an indictment of the West.

  6. Ed Case says:

    Are they conservatives?
    What happened to

I disagree with what you say, but defend un to death your Right to say it

    ?

  7. Lee says:

There is a video doing the rounds of a guy in America going around, trolling or taking the piss out of what appear to be mainly uni types.

He was asking them to sign a petition supporting Hamas.

Some appear quite keen at first, but are far less keen once they have read the terms and conditions, which include support for a severe crackdown on gays, and other extreme measures.

Not surprisingly, he didn’t appear to get any signatures.

  8. Lee says:

    Thanks, Mak.

    I just found this:

  9. Rosie says:

I’ve seen that a few times, even in describing Israeli society.
Please no, just stick to the moral reasons we should defend the evil Empire of Hamas.
Besides which muslims might occasionally throw gays off buildings but they quietly allow a great deal of sexual perversity.
It’s part of the completely inflexible oppressor oppressed narrative that guys are for hamas.

  10. Ed Case says:

A few gays were thrown off buildings in Shia Fundamentalist ruled Iran,
but I doubt that’s ever happened in Sunni Gaza or the West Bank.
Palestinian Authority Police have been shooting protesters dead in West Bank demonstrations, though I wouldn’t be surprised if spontaneous demos had the same result here.
It’s just that we don’t have any spontaneous demonstrations.

  11. Franx says:

He was asking them to sign a petition supporting Hamas.

Silly and sneaky survey since the premiss implies that not supporting Hamas justifies, of necessity, the Netanyahu government’s bombing of Gaza.

The survey conflates Palestinians with Islam in ways comparable to conflating Jews with Zionism.

JFK Jr and almost every other US politician thinks, or has said that he or she thinks, that democracy is defined by LGBTQ ‘rights’ as epitomised by the US, and in the current context, by Israel.

But – and as for what defines democracy: even – even – the LGBTQs know that it is not LGBTQ ‘rights’ which define democracy. So why would the LGBTQs, who know as much, and not troubled by tricky surveys, not protest against antidemocratic ethnic cleansing.

  12. NFA says:

    Franx, please!

The only party that is devoted to “ethnic cleansing” and genocide is islamic hamas.

Next you’ll be arguing that hamas didn’t colonize Gaza.

Are you a neo-con by any chance?

Faruqi and other Marxist Greens disgrace themselves in senate walkout:

The Batshit Crazy Member for Hamas in the Australian Senate.

  15. Wally Dali says:

Blog Czar, take it as read that MacIntyre makes a pithy point.
But, to extrapolate, it’s damning that the Green Left- who would usually rush to empathise anything that would offend the heritage of the enlightened west- have got nothing to say in defence of a state which is so tolerant that it has a homosexual Arab in parliament, at war against a state that throws homosexuals off rooftops- and which probably only tolerates stories which come from the Koran.

  16. Ed Case says:

Just watched QT in the Senate, it’s about the 14:23 mark.
Just a stunt, the Senate is already a disgrace due to Farrell’s and Watt’s abuse of Question Time.
Faruqi asked her first question, got an answer, then made a statement and walked out, wasting her 2 supplementary questions.
Obvious stunt, I’d say Labor knew about it beforehand and probably orchestrated it.

  17. Wally Dali says:

And I’ve used the word homosexual deliberately. I actually do not tolerate, recognise, celebrate gayness at all.

  18. C.L. says:

Sure, Wally, but on the other hand the Palestinians don’t allow men to shake their arses around in front of children at drag queen story hours either.

  19. Ed Case says:

Looking at Auron Macintyre’s work on Twitter, it’s hard to get a handle on where he’s coming from, but I doubt it’s anywhere good.

  20. Wally Dalí says:

I think we’re in flagrante agreement. Arse-shaking is gay. Sexualized behaviour in front of children is evil, and should be illegal-
the West does, obviously for a long time has, and should, tolerate homosexuality, even homosexual acts- and an act, or accusation of one, is enough to catch a death sentence in the Islamosphere. But we should not, as individuals or legislatures, protect or promote gay acts, gay people, gay culture, gay pride.

  21. Tel says:

IMHO, Western Civilization is a thin veil over Pythagoras.

You could add maybe Aristotle, Epicurus and perhaps a handful of others.

By the way … just as a reminder … it all started a turn for the worse aroun 1800 when long trousers came into fashion. If we don’t get back to knee-length gear, then you are wasting your time with the chanting and burning incense.

  22. Ed Case says:

Head shakin’ cynicism from The Australian Greens:
Respect the dignity of LGBTIA+ kids in Gaza
Access to COVID vaccines for everyone in Gaza
    … something … something … humanitarian disaster …
Don Arab shawl, do fist pump, stage Senate walkout.
Laugh if you must, but 1 in 7 adults vote for these freaks, that’s the reason we’re under zombie Governments from coast to coast.

This Melbourne Cup-related pic will please you, Tel.

  24. NFA says:

    Nah C.L.

    It’s not knee length.

  25. Tel says:

    Melbourne Cup-related pic

A small step in the right general direction … but he ain’t George Washington.
