Yet another example of what’s going wrong with our country.

    Sickening.

  4. Fat Tony says:

“Justice” has to be random and pitiless if it is to keep the people afraid.

  5. Pat Mac says:

The public does not see enough news about this. IMHO

  6. C.L. says:

Duggan was an exemplary Marine (described by his former CO as a hero), has never been charged with a crime and is an Australian citizen.

He has been in prison for 383 days. He is in solitary confinement.

He is being pursued by the China-bribed Biden administration for making a living training pilots, some of whom were Chinese, from 2011-12. Coincidentally, Cheng Lei left Australia to work for the CCP’s television station over roughly the same time span.

  7. Tel says:

Two more Labor voters, each one votes several times … you’d be surprised how quickly it all adds up.

Does any mass media outlet covers it?

  9. Riversutra says:

Ninety-two other asylum seekers are currently being held under similar circumstances, with many detained on character grounds or on the grounds of national security.

No need to worry, not one of them will be moving into the same street as a High Court judge.

  10. jupes says:

Australia has lost its moral compass. We are nothing more than a vassal state of the most corrupt regime to ever rule the US.

    The Australian reported it.
The only editorial coverage was by George Williams on Wednesday, he described the Decision as ‘unsurprising’ and said that we’re better off being able to monitor Benbrika in Australia than deporting him to Algeria.
Presumably, the same rationale for freeing that Rapey Rohingya, we’re protecting 10 year olds in Burma.

That makes absolutely no sense at all; if he is deported then there is no need for “monitoring” him here.

If he was a right wing extremist, he would be deported, no monitoring, no ifs, buts, or maybes.

While we’re stealing all their doctors because the AMA doesn’t want us to train enough of them. Give me a break, if it were compassionate grounds for Burmese we would stop stealing doctors from 3rd world countries. More likely they are protecting this guy from life imprisonment in a harsh institution. That is the penalty for child rape in Burma.

  14. Buccaneer says:

Apologies for an inappropriate use of language, please substitute guy with weasel.

And what about Daniel Duggan? I’ve never seen anything about him apart from what CL is posting here. Granted I’m not big on fake news media.
His case definitely deserves attention from an inquisitive journalist (if there is such a creature in Australia).

Does a Muslim Radical from Algeria meet the criteria for Right Wing Extremist?
    I’d say:

    Absolutely

So, perhaps our Spooks have other reasons for keeping this dude in Australia?
I wonder what these reasons could be?*
Not really, it’s pretty clear what’s goiung on.

    Nothing this week.
In other former soldier news, Heston Russell is facing Common Assault Charges in Sydney ove a “drunken Incident” at a “rooftop pool party”.

  18. Christine says:

When I read the latest on Heston R, I felt enormous relief that no one went plummeting.

  19. Christine says:

I’d like to hear more about Daniel Duggan and why he hasn’t been charged.
Evidently no journalist is permitted to write about him.

  20. Ed Case says:

    That’s for sure, Christine.
Y’know, with Armistice Day nearly upon us, there’s nothing that makes me think of our fallen heroes more than proud Gay bloke Heston Russell being charged with allegedly punching some guy in the face at a rooftop pool party.

  21. Entropy says:

Good point Christine. Just the sort of article for armistice day.

  22. Rockdoctor says:

My 2c worth. If you are not born here with citizenship (I am referring to not being anchor baby which Australia doesn’t automatically convey citizenship in some cases) then the minister should have the last call not an unelected judge. The HC ruled in favour of a p’phile yesterday FFS…

I’ll give credit to the Guardian for covering the story with more interest and criticality than other media. It seems Mark Dreyfus’ office has also been briefing/scaring away journalists off-the-record:

Attorney-General’s Department drives Australian prisoner’s ‘trial by media’.

Sydney Criminal Lawyers has also been following developments very closely:

Albanese Complicit in United States’ Use of Australian Citizen as Political Pawn.

Duggan Requests Postponement of Extradition Due to Prosecution’s Failure to Serve Evidence.

When China became a baddie in America’s eyes again, the State Department decided to stop US ex-military personnel from doing any business with Chinamen. IMO (and others’), Duggan was selected (by the FBI) as a human scarecrow to warn veterans off. The fact that he’s a white Christian is almost certainly not immaterial. Does anybody really believe a black ex-USMC Muslim would have been thrown in a supermax by Dreyfus – or that the Biden administration would have ordered him to do so?

Earlier this year, Duggan’s 95-year-old mother died in Boston. He wasn’t at the funeral. Anne Duggan’s death notice. Big Catholic family.

By contrast, this was reported in 2022:

Hundreds of retired US military officers cash in with jobs for Saudi Arabia, UAE, say reports.

Hundreds of retired US military officers, including former generals and admirals, have used their military backgrounds to ink lucrative deals working for foreign countries, mostly among the Gulf monarchies like Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, according to two long-term investigations by The Washington Post…

The documents also revealed that 15 former generals and admirals have worked directly with Saudi Arabia’s defence ministry, headed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who launched the Saudi-led coalition’s war in Yemen.

Mohammed bin Salman is a murderer.

None of these rats have been charged with anything, of course.

  24. Lee says:

The current Democrat admin, DOJ, State Department, and alphabet agencies are as corrupt and dishonest as they come,
They also practice the most egregious double standards.
