“Door Mat” Guy’s brilliant new strategy to win power in Victoria

The Liberal ‘leader’ commits to a 50% emissions ‘target’ by 2030 – besting Federal Labor’s 43%.

Shadow spokesman for climate change and the environment, James Newbury, said writing the target into law would help drive investment in renewables.

“The Victorian Liberals and Nationals are serious about climate change and have a sensible plan to achieve net-zero based on real solutions, not ideology,” Newbury said.

Victorian Libs don’t want to be a viable alternative to Dictator Dan and win government.
Still, I am utterly dismayed at the prospect of yet another four years of labor in Victoria.

  2. Buccaneer says:

Obviously didn’t pay much attention to the WA election results

    Matt Kirkup-Guy

truth is it is a very comfortable existence as the opposition. Better hours, no need to deliver, good pay.

    This is true.

  5. Rossini says:

Why on earth would you vote for those ace holes if they are trying to outdo labour in the race to destroy Victoria’s future.
To get votes from the majority of Victorians “labour impersonators” must ditch all these stupid climate change policies and allow gas and oil exploration in Victoria
As well as financing the construction of a coal power generating plant.
    If wishes were horses!!!!

  6. Cassie of Sydney says:

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…

Why vote for a party that is Labor lite, may as well vote for the Labor Party.

  7. John Brumble says:

Vote for Labor now, get Labor now. Vote for Liberals now, get Labor now, Labor next time, Labor the time after that and Labor forever

  8. Chris M says:

Guy might as well light himself on a pyre. Dan could go out and strangle 50% of the Viktorian people and the remainder would still vote for him.

Of course with repeated jabs he may just get there by 2030.

  9. Ed Case says:

He knows it will never get thru the Upper House, so he’s on safe ground.
The Cops are over Andrews, and when that happens in State Politics, a change of Government usually follows.

  10. Morsie says:

No different from the article in the Oz by the the Federal energy minister.Talking about social licence renewable blah blah blah. They are fucking hopeless

You’ve been doing that for quite a while, i’m guessing.
How’s it working out for you?

Real solutions to what exactly? Is this ignoramous telling us that Victorian government policy can change the weather?

    What a gormless twit.

  13. Lee says:

The police will never move against a Labor premier in Victoria, least of all Andrews.

Write to Matthew and tell him turning teal doesn’t cut it.

  15. Charles says:

There is one silver lining to all of this stupidity, the VIC Liberals should get themselves voted out of most seats across the state with this hare-brained strategy and then we could perhaps have some real politicians arise as opposed to these elected public servants who are infesting the Opposition seats at the moment.

  16. Fat Tony says:

It is, after all, the Uniparty, owned by the CCP-WEF Coalition.

Same destination, just a slightly different route

  17. Bluey says:

Having survived the last few years of covid madness in victoria, I was looking to vote for a viable alternative to the Andrews Labor government. Between the recent announcements by the Victorian Liberal party on emission targets, with other policy announcements adopting pretty much all the same policies as Labor, and the complete invisibility of the Liberal party regarding the government excesses of the last few years have ensured I will not be voting for the Liberal party candidate.

Doing the same things as the current Labor party to destroy the state, but going harder has convinced me there is no future in this state. Policies of no reliable energy, taxing everything that moves and most that doesn’t, and enormous debt load ensure economic devastation.

What I sent to the liberal leader’s email.

Think we’d be far better off wiping the Liberals out completly like WA, and getting Lib dems, one nation, or bloody socialist alliance instead. All of who might actually fight.

  18. cuckoo says:

Why doesn’t he just put on a teal windcheater, identify as a woman and be done with it.

  19. Jannie says:

It is not “investment” in an economic sense, but perhaps in a military sense. As in: Investment of the taxpayer by the green lobby.

  20. Lee says:

Matthew Guy = Zak Kirkup Mark II.
How many seats do the Libs hold in WA?
    Two?

  21. Hugh says:

Why not a 100% target by this Christmas?
It’s only slightly more difficult, and he might pick up some votes for his derring-do.
