And a range of messages of support on twitter accounts of T Plibersek, A Spender, S Hanson-Young, L Turnbull. Nothing from P Wong, K Gallagher.

  2. Franx says:

Could be that some of the ‘support’ is to have it out there in case of BH attempting self-harm in claiming victimhood.

Nothing from P Wong, K Gallagher.

Nothing from Wong on Twitter, but faux statespersonship elsewhere:

Given the sensitivity surrounding the case, Foreign Minister Penny Wong was eager to keep her comments broad.

She insisted any calls to reform the legal system “are calls that should reform the whole of the legal system”.

Right. Pretty broad, then. Apparently La Higgins is to be the catalyst for a total overhaul of the whole legal system.

“But I want to echo the prosecutor’s comments recognising the grace, the bravery, and the dignity that Ms Higgins has displayed,” she said.

It seems that future criminal cases in Wong’s overhauled system will turn on the presumption of grace and dignity. Presumably with extra points for bravery.
(Not sure how well that will apply in commercial law.)

    In good hands.

    Thanks, Dr Faustus!

From The Australian a minute or two ago:-

Brittany Higgins is preparing to sue Linda Reynolds and Michaelia Cash as she labels Australia’s justice system a ‘national shame’.

There is something seriously amiss with Ms Higgins, but as with all squeaking wheels she will get the grease.

It seems that she is not driven to despair by the thought of appearing in a courtroom when there might be money to grab.
